Do Not Fix What Isn't Broken!

personally , I hate the new youtube look. It is really shoddy and ugh. Retro youtube anyday. Also if you noticed, on the right hand side where the videos are... you cant go find more similar videos... they removed that link too. annoying...

Exactly my point....so, what' are these changes all about? Is it the bandwidth issue or what??

This is their mental problem which makes them do those changes.

I think youtube is just trying to do anything to realize a profit. Google is sick of losing money with youtube so they are willing to try anything.

Google must have hired some of the Brainiacs from Windows development and asked for them to keep an eye on YouTube. Clearly they did what any self-respecting M$ Windows developer does when a product does or doesn't need an update... throw everything in the bin and start again.

Bandwidth issues?? I don't think so. After all, Its google Inc. I dont think they have a bandwidth issue. Though if they did.. I'd laugh !
Its like most websites that get taken over by bigger companies and pay a hefty price at that for them at that.. they seem to revamp them after a period of time ,which i guess they are entitled too. it is after all theirs, but what reason..hell knows! Make it more "simple" pffff
Speaking of this trend of big ol' companies taking over webistes and paying, like S***loads of cash for them..They don't seem to last long either once brought..
I base my facts on this now. (I could be talking crap as well )
Bebo - A very popular social network site.. (everyone must have an account!!) was very successful in UK and Ireland and was brought by AOL - a year later after a few revamps and dodgey codes, bug etc . It is now being discussed in the AOL HQ that it will either be sold or closed pernamently..
Will this happen to youtube as well.. same story.. (ish) time will only tell.

thoughts on that theory ? (could be a load of pfff since I havent slept yet) but entertaining!
The main point - Big companies worth billions destroy websites that they buy and try to revamp..epic fail

I have one think too tell about it ... horrible.

Don't like the new look.
Can't find peace with there new input

I doubt Youtube is a loss leader considering that http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2009/10/youtube-bandwidth/ and they charge hundreds of thousands of dollars for prime advertising real estate.

However, I also do not like the new layout. :(

hehehe i can't see youtube again with my Mozilla because it needs to be upgrade while i do not need to take that upgrade.

we are used to seeing youtube for longtime as it was and now sudden change we are not able to accept. But once taken by google such change was actually expected. And i dont think its the final look since there may be much more changes comming.

I like the original layout the best.. I can never get use to all these changes they are doing!

I did think something was a bit weird, at least they got the queued video pane to work properly in IE, if only I could get it to stop moving around the page depending on what video Im using.

Seriously why do so many companies change things for the sake of changing them?

I thought I was the only one who thought it was a headache!

Wait... something really weired is happening. Last time I went on YT it had the new design/layout. I just went back on it now and its the OLD style again!!

No sign of the new design at all. Whats going on, is this just me?

Bashing Windows in a YouTube thread? Seriously now? Did you catch Bill Gates in your bed with your wife or what?

OT:

I hate it that the discription box is now smaller, other than that I don't really mind.

Windows sucks and M$ deserve a bashing at every opportunity :D

I never used or paid any attention to the five star ratings on YT anyway. What some people think are good videos may suck to the next person watching. I've seen lots of crap videos with 5 stars on them. Glad to see the "favorited" numbers are back tho.

//Sorry the stars are gone.
///Still don't like the changes.

They changed it because the very nature of people is to respond only when they are taken out of their comfort zone, i.e., they rate when they totally dislike the video, or when they love it.

Look at this and you'll see proof:

http://youtube-global.blogspot.com/2009/09/five-stars-dominate-ratings.html

I think it's not a bad idea at all. A pretty neat one, actually.

What is bad is they don't allow users to see the ratings of the video easily. You have to go all the way to the video's page and click insights. Which is dumb. They should've left it the way the stars were displayed. It was much more convenient.

Other than that, I think they are making YT look more and more like Google - simplistic and clean.

All in all, it's a good idea but, sadly, with a dodgy implementation.

I think you missed the point, i wasn't bashing windows, i was bashing the whole throw it in the bin and start again method. :)

XP wasn't broken, it was quick and wasn't greedy with resources. Have you seen what came after XP?! Evolution is best, just look at Unix, Linux and Mac OS - Unix if i'm not mistaken.
