hello i have a question, i know that links in tumblr posts are not a 301 redirect, and the links on the description are ******** but i think that googe ignores links like that are not surronded by alot of text, anyone has an idea about those tumblr post links ?

use the Inspector in your browser to check if those links (a tags) have the rel="nofollow". If they don't then they are do-follow links.

no my question is that tumblr is using a meta refresh on the post links not a 301 redirect

@BassTrackerBoats Did a shared how to get do follow links from tumblrs I cant find that maybe he can link it.
i know how to get do follow links from tumblr but they don't pass alot of link juice i think since it's just in the description and html blog title

If you think so then do not waste your time stop building them and try other methods like Guest Posts and PBNs.

If you are talking about the tumblr post type 'link' (not photo with article or article) the link juice might be less powerful, as google puts value of the content around the link.
However I haven't test that in the past 2 years.

In 2015 I know I was ranking a couple of websites only with tumblr link posts. :P

On the other hand if your link type post gets viral on tumblr, that is another thing. ;)
Because tumblr is a mix of blogging and social media platform, once it gets some viral effect you get both a link and the social signals.

yes basically it's not a 301 redirect anymore it's a meta refresh, i don't know if it passes link juice but i don't, the links on the description are not passing alot of link juice, they are not doing any change tbh

you know that they are a meta refresh right ?

I know they are meta refresh, they have been meta refresh for 2 years now. Google follows every link. If I could stop Google to crawl through and not account the links that are 302 refreshed then oh boy, cloaking would be some easy stuff to do.

Not all Tumblr themes allow do-follow links.
But there is one or two free themes that can help you.

So you're saying that links in the description have no impact even though they're direct ******** links rather than the t.umblr.com redirects in posts. That surprises me frankly.

I found only one or two free themes that allow do-follow links, but not on the posts, just in customization settings like footer, etc...

I had no idea that installing any free theme on a tumblr blog would destroy your SEO juice flow. Not sure if it's a deliberate feature put there by the theme makers to encourage the purchase of paid themes or whether it's a glitch of some sort that only a few themes are able to avoid.

the links on the description have a slight inpact to no inpact on moving a keyword up, that's what i'm experiencing

This makes no sense because these links are direct from tumblr.com instead of the redirected ones through t.umblr.com and it's also from the home page instead of moving content. It really surprises me.

But you're not getting any effect from the tumblr blog links either, or are you?

With Tumblr changing the link structure/scheme, it appears that it does not pass that much of a link juice after the change.
But of course, that should not deter you at all, as there is a way where you can place your links through the template itself, which is the true secret.
But this would be sitewide links though.

I havent had much success with Tumblr but following this thread to see if there is an element that I have been missing.
