Do I call? Talk some sense into me...

I had a job interview the other day. (Wednesday to be exact)...Anyways, it seemed to go really well. They laughed a lot, and at the end, she gave me a business card and said. "If you don't hear back from us in a week, give me a call."

Does this mean, We will probably hire you...or here's a blow off, give us a call so we don't have to tell you you suck to your face? Does anyone know interviews? This is the first one I've had in years...

(I own a business, I just want some health insurance lol.)

Definitely give them a call. They might have handed out a business card and told all of the potential employees the same thing to prove their dedication to the job if they were to be hired.

Thanks everyone! Now I don't feel like a pud for wanting to call. I had other people telling me not to. I really hope I don't even need to make the call, that they'll call me first.

Give them a call anyway. They are following a standard protocol, and may be interested more in hiring you if you gave them a call. It's possible that they needed around a week to go through all those forms and may have shortlisted some. If you remind them that you still exist on this earth, they may get their focus on you above others -- i.e., if you are filling all other requirements perfectly!

Getting a job isn't like picking flowers any more... you need to go out there and snatch it from all other competitors -- of course in a nice way! If they want you to have the job, then your second call, the followup, will help them decide positively. HTH.

I used to work for an employment agency and I would always advise clients to call the prospective employer back. Many clients told me that they were told that the main reason that they got the job is because they called and showed interest in the job. Don't come across as begging for it, be professional, when you call, just ask them if they need any more information from you to help with their decision. Or, if you have any references, certificates, etc you could add to your application/resume, then you could stop in and give it to them in person. That way, you go to the top of their memory, ahead of the others.
