do follow ups on cold DMs fry your account?

Majority of the people are saying that follow ups on old messages count as new DMs. I doubt all of them might have actually done those tests personally, and are mostly assuming things.
From my experience I'd say follow ups shouldn't be considered as equal to a pure new IG outreach by IG Algo. And if I were at your place, I'd just run a test for it for a couple of days, and confirm it 100% for myself. So I'd personally would recommend that instead.
ight bet bro preciate it

thats detailed

like ik you can send 30 cold DMs everyday (spaced out nicely) to avoid your account from getting fried and DMs hitting "Hidden Requests"

however, if I DM 30 people a day, and decide to follow up with these guys the next day (so 30 cold NEW DMs + 30 follow ups to the unresponded cold DMs from yesterday = 60 DMs a day) will this fry my account? Im only going to open 30 new conversations/day but follow up with A LOT of people who wont answer from the first message
I wouldn't look at it as just the total number of DMs. From what I've seen, engagement and account health matter just as much. If most recipients ignore or report the messages, even a moderate volume can become an issue. I'd focus on sending relevant follow-ups rather than simply increasing the daily count.

Follow-ups in existing chats are generally lower risk than constantly starting new conversations. Just keep them natural, don't send identical messages in bulk, and avoid sending too many in a short period.
