Do Cheap Backlink Sites Work?

I've been checking the backlink profiles of all the top competitors in my niche (ecommerce website) and noticed a large majority of them that rank on the first page have backlinks from websites like:

starcourts dot com
toptohigh dot com

And many more sites that look exactly like this that only charge about $5 for a backlink with a DA of over 50

Are sites like these safe to buy backlinks from?

EDIT: Another question: When finding niche-related backlinks to guest post/link insert on, does it matter if the target site has a spammy link profile but high DA? I haven't been pulling the trigger on these sites yet so im just wondering if its fine

Stay away from cheap backlinks. Instead of benefits, they may even do harm to your website.

are they are big sites or small sites? for big sites sometime shit links doesnt effect much since google already put trust on them
 
You need to check other links. These two links pointing to site does not mean that it is ranking because of these two only, there can be other factors also.

They're relatively big sites, they've all got 20k + backlinks but the top 100 backlinks I can see on Ahrefs are all pretty spammy
 
It’s not about cheap links with doctored metrics. What you’re seeing is balance. Your competitors most likely have a strong set of links to accompany those $5 links.

Sometimes sites with spammy links hang around the rankings, but usually they get algorithmed away at some point.

what makes you think those sites paid for those cheap backlinks? maybe the owner of those cheap backlinks, linking out to top domains in major niches to fool others like you to come and buy backlink from them?! don't get fooled by everything you see!
 
More spam score on the website without relevancy could leave a foot print and might get into loosing all the traffic. DA maters but not only DA could get all the focused results.
