Ill first start by quoting my review for his service.

"all im gonna say is be weary... ive hired him and it appears great and all good talk. but the work wont get done. I hired him 3+ months ago with virtually no proof of what he said hes doing, and never meets the deadlines he sets. Theres excuse after excuse over and over why he didnt meat said deadline. I paid him $300 which is more than whats asked on OP, albeit my site was a bit more complex with needs so there's that fact. I could easily ask for a refund which i know i wont get since its clear he asks me that he needs money to pay for xyz medical costs etc etc, which now that i think about it might not be true, and or report him to the shit list but im not going to do that.. I consider this a loss on my end. To be fair its also clear hes knowledgeable about alot of niches etc but the cons heavily outweigh the pros. Btw i can back up all my claims with snapshots of our conversations etc. but its not worth the trouble. im too busy and need to move on.

That basically sums it up i did in fact decide to post to the Shit list. But ya 3+ months for a website alone is kinda ridiculous. but the excuses plus virtually no proof of what he says hes doing and only having a blank landing page tops it off.

Information For The Accused
@createplugin - you have 24 hours to respond to this disputes thread. If you do not respond within 24 hours or we note that you're engaging in any other activities on the forum rather than dealing with this dispute, the decision will be made in favour of the dispute starter and you will be permanently banned from Black Hat World. Information For The Accused & The Dispute Starter

i should have noticed the red flags after the excuses started popping up. i saw recently a good index for hiring a developer is to make sure they have been good standing and there service has been up for 1-2 years. any more tips? i wanted to take a chance with a newer dev for my needs.

Paying half upfront lowers your risk
Paying via escrow lowers the risk
Choosing reputable suppliers lowers the risk
Paying with crypto raises the risk
Hiring a relatively new member raises the risk
Paying upfront raises the risk
Hiring someone who's entire activity revolves around their sales thread raises the risk

There's no 100% bullet proof method to avoid being scammed, it's all about risk management.

The higher the service price is, the stricter you should be about risk management (this goes both ways, to the sellers as well as for the buyers).

Escrow.com is a fairly well known service.

escrow is forsure the way to go just checked it out. do alot of yall use escrow for service payment here?

yes escrow is the best it gives assurance to both buyer and seller. I've used escrow recently, Only hiccup was the deposit took a lot of time to confirm.

any way bhw can mitigate banned user trying to create a new account? just wondering. or is that impossible to detect.

We have certain security measures in place to catch them but now and then they slip through.

ok last thing... so i just posted in hire a freelancer. i kinda gathered its also somewhat a red flag when people post replies on HAF looking like an ad? not saying always but am i kinda right where ad looking replies should be weary of? in your guys's opinion. or is that flawed logic..

A reply to a HAF thread is an ad. It makes sense to make sure it gets attention.
Would I do that? No. But it makes sense.
