I noticed a few websites disabling back button once you click them in the search results.

While I understand they are doing it to reduce bounce rate and manipulating google into thinking the website is more relevant and its pretty easy to do using JS

Code:

What I'm curious about is: Can you get penalized for that? Is it a bad idea adding it to a money site?

Thanks.

i wouldnt recommend doing that, but if you want to reduce your bounce rate check this out:

Have not tried it yet but I don't see where Google could or would do anything about it.

If you want to piss off users, it seems like the perfect way to go about it!

A good site for users it will be good for the search engines. By blocking the BACK button'll make your site hated.

You will never increase the conversion rate with this tactic (if that's what you want to know).

It may make people think your website is virus infected. You may lost potential customers.

They'll use close button and never returns to your site.

to reduce bounce rate use video or disable close button also :P

am agreeing with above responded mates...

dear innosoft ,

Block close button on sites most visitors naturally hating that and it's also decreased your traffics and all ....

If you interested to make your sites for following upgrades,

*A trendy lookable user friendly theme for your site niche based

*create good readable contents like easy to understand for everyone's and subtitle or niche based quality images

*Insert a perfect relevant videos above the contents or links what explained it

after upgrades your site will be indexed soon on all major search engines also increase traffic's for all & totally decreased bounce rates

Really??? It was sarcastic (2nd Part) Nevermind! ;)

If the back button is disabled, a pop up upon closing, a 2nd window pop up with a discount or even when I see that lovely CB button buynow button I laugh and in my mind I say " Ohh BlackhatWrold how tickle my insides" So I always go with basics and it converts way better.

lol, right... for 99% of sites that need return customers this sounds bad.

You are better off just designing a better site that holds users naturally. This has 2 benefits and can't be slapped. Hire a designer.

Lol I wouldn't do it like that. I've heard that putting a loud, autoplaying youtube video on the page should do the trick. Though, I'm sure that will irritate a few users too.

Pointless, I like leaving it upon my visitors to decide what they would like to do once they are on my site.
