Digitally Distinctive Scam

I didn't actually waste much time on this - maybe 5 minutes all up - but thought I'd spread the word.

If you get an email from a company called "digitally distinctive" asking to advertise on yr site just delete it. They'll offer you some $$$ to basically put an article up that links to one of their clients. They offered me $115 to place their article on a PR4 site, so the $$$ are not wholly unbeleivable.

The only problem is that you won't ever get paid. they say to upload the article and then when it's "approved" you'll be paid via paypal, but a G search reveals that no-one actually ever gets paid.

In reality it's not that bad a method as I reckon about 5% of people wouldn't get around to ever removing the page, plus the short term gains they'll get with a high PR link until you remove it wouldn't hurt either.

Kinda sneaky, but I guess if it works it works. Some would call it stealing in a way, but it's really the site owners fault if they don't take the link down.

Yupp Sneaky. What if after you posted the article they reply that they want to cancel the agreement instead? Would it be ok after that? Also there using a REAL Ad agency name so they could get in trouble for that.

I'm pretty sure it's the "real" ad agency doing it - the email comes from their site

I wouldn't call it stealing. It's not really scamming either - trickery would probably be the best word for it.

There were always such type of link sellers. Most of the links are bad and they charge a foot and toe for them. I usually dont bother with them.

Well they actually paid me - and don't I feel like an idiot for some of the emails I was sending them.

Hmm late payment?! I guess nobody reads agreement it's good I've finished reading till the end ...

If you got paid maybe some sites just did not meet a certain requirement. I will give this one a try and let you know guys.

I received a few e-mails from them. From 5 proposals (during a few weeks) I only got one deal for $80/year.

I own a large network, and get loads of these emails, from LOTS of agencies. I have a standard email I send back, as I found the vast majority never even see it through. I still did around 20 deals last year for roughly $100 per page, but that was from around 300 email requests! I did get some repeat business though.

That is lame. Are the links requested to money sites? Did you ever get that far?
