I didn't actually waste much time on this - maybe 5 minutes all up - but thought I'd spread the word.
If you get an email from a company called "digitally distinctive" asking to advertise on yr site just delete it. They'll offer you some $$$ to basically put an article up that links to one of their clients. They offered me $115 to place their article on a PR4 site, so the $$$ are not wholly unbeleivable.
The only problem is that you won't ever get paid. they say to upload the article and then when it's "approved" you'll be paid via paypal, but a G search reveals that no-one actually ever gets paid.
In reality it's not that bad a method as I reckon about 5% of people wouldn't get around to ever removing the page, plus the short term gains they'll get with a high PR link until you remove it wouldn't hurt either.
Maybe I might use it myself
