Hi everyone,

I have an e-commerce shopify website and have been receiving spammy backlinks that link to pages on my website in the format seen in the image attached.

I have seen seo attacks using general website pages e.g., mywebsite.com or mywebsite.com/collections, but I have not seen seo attacks linking to custom pages on my domain. I have disavowed the source website already, but how does this seo attack happen? How are they managing to create spammy url extensions on my website domain? Lastly, is there anything to do apart from disavowing?

Very frustrating for this to happen when you're trying to build up a website's DA.

Thanks for any insights in advance.

They're trying to index pages on your site allow a search string, and populate that search string with their url/phone number/social media accounts. The goal is for them to get these pages indexed, and then when they appear in the SERPs people will apparently want to type in those urls or visit those social media accounts. Because the world is crazy.

There's a page here with more details and a possible fix: https://thisisnovos.com/blog/vendor-page-shopify-spam-impacting-search-results/

Thank for sharing the info. I will use the solution in the article. Hopefully, this prevents any further similar issues. Thanks again!

You don't need to do more. Shopify rolled out an update some time ago. If you get attacked, all sites will show a 404 error. Nothing to worry about.
