Different backlinks

Hey,

Recently started my little own journey into affiliate marketing.
I still have a long road ahead but there a few things I still cannot wrap my head around, and they are backlinks. Read from different threads about backlinks, tier 1/2, dof0llow/nofollow and so on.

My questions are
1. What are the differences between the tiers of a backlink?
2. What is dof0llow and what is nofollow?
3. Do you go towards black hat methods if you buy the backlinks?

If you could help me understand them I'd highly appreciate it.

1- Tier 1 should be your highest quality PR links, tier 2 are medium quality links. You can use well spun content and automated software's for it.
2- Do-Follow links help to boost your SEO rankings. Nofollow links don’t.
3- blackhat is risky not recommended.

Tier backlinks are helpful to your backlinks to getting index soon.

2. What is dof0llow and what is nofollow?
Dof0llow link is pass the link juice to your backlink site and Nofollow link is not pass the link juice.

3. Do you go towards black hat methods if you buy the backlinks?
Your Affiliate site not affect by any google update means you can go with White hat method otherwise you can choose blackhat.
