Did you like your boss?

Hey guys,

I started this thread because I'm very curious what experiences you guys made working for other people. While my main reason for IM always was to be independent of location and to have more time to master the skills I care about, there is also one reason that heavily pushed me towards it. I might have been unlucky, but I had some bosses' I worked for that I almost wanted to strangle, so much I hated them. The reason for this was their ricidulous authoritarian attidute. As an example... I had to do a tedious data entry task, and the boss gave me clear instructions how to do it. It would've taken easily 30+ hours to complete, but I told him that I could automate it to a large extend within one hour. His response? I should not question what he gives me, but shut up and work. I ended up automating it anyway, but just not doing anything for the remaining time.

Another time I was playing secretary by writing what my boss said... I told him three times that he has dragon naturally speaking, so whyyy not use it? It works so well. I just pissed him off by that... but damn, I seriously can't stand spending time that could've been spent much more efficiently elsewhere. It drives me nuts. Maybe I'm a little crazy though. Good thing crazy me can work for himself now (to a large extend, thanks to this forum and its awesome members <3)

What about your experiences in the corporate world? Someone you'd like to strangle?

I have always gotten along with myself quite well.

I'm a fan of my boss(s).

They are my clients and I like 99% of them a whole lot... most are real nice people to work for and I'm glad to have the opportunity.

I find the bigger the company (that I worked for) the more inclined the "boss" was to be unlikeable. The opposite was true when I joined a smaller company.

Well, I usually search and try to read something about all these things.....
Somewhere I had read that, the relation between the boss and their employee must be in a balanced manner means, friendly+Disciplined.

I have worked in tons of different corporate jobs and I
have had both good and bad bosses. I didn't mind STRICT
bosses, but I did mind the JERKS. Ultimately, the JERKS
businesses eventually went down the drain . . . and
rightfully so.

I can't tell I liked my bosses, though I respected them anyway.

I'm neutral on this. Some of them were alright, some are the reason I do what I do today.

The closest thing I've had to a boss is customers while I was just into freelancing. They can be pretty darn mean or annoying, but most of the time, they're very pleasant.
