i am kinda new to the whole IM world and my first few tries landed me on pages 2,3 and 4 on google for a couple of my sites, ive read alot about how google indexs, google dance, etc, all of my blogs are white hat method, no blackhat what so ever,

when they first got indexed i ended up in the 1000's by the dead men, but every day they would rise steadily until they settled on the top 4 pages of google, so after a few days of being stuck in the same position i make a linkwheel consisting of 7 web 2.0 properties, each one interlinking to the next, a basic linkwheel, but insted of each of the sites linking to my money site i linked them to my goarticles, which then linked to my money site, so the money site has only one link pointed at it from the linkwheel. Here is an example and should give you a pretty good idea how i did my linkwheel

    Moneysite

    Goarticles.com

    web1=>web2=>web3=>web4=>web5=>web6=>web7

after the linkwheel had been fully indexed, my money site got deindexed instantly, for about 1 week, when i did get reindexed i ended up no were to be found in google, possible lost in what they call "google hell" :(

so my question is did my linkwheel screw me ? if i remove that one single link will my site regain its rank in the top 5 ? any feedback would be appreciated

The chance that off site SEO has anything to do with your position decrease is 0%

otherwise we all be shooting down our rivals.... think about it

Exactly the same thing happened to me, how was your content? was it unique? Although its probably more to do with the fact that you have created your linkwheel within a few days, and google has found it and given you some SERP love, but now if your not continuing with a constant link building campaign this might have raised a red flag and your position has been dropped.

My advice? Keep link building as normal, I did this and now im in a better position for my keyword than I have ever been, but your linkwheel that you did is very common and there is a chance google has recognised the footprint.

One small link wheel can not get you banned, trust me, if you go crazy and build a huge 100+ spoke link wheel then it can cause problems.

You are just experiencing the Google dance just keep building links and you well eventually get back up there.

yea i understand that concept very well, i just find it hard to believe my linkwheel didnt have anything to with it, i would understand if it was just one site, but 2 of them disappeared and came back dead the moment my linkwheel went into play, and my other site keeps ramdonly getting deindexed then reindexed over and over, i wouldnt call my sites new they are about 1 month old since they got indexed the first time

A link wheel shouldn't cause you to get deindexed because it is offsite. What it could do though is trip an alert at Google so a human would come and visit your site. If they find your site is really low quality and not following Google's webmaster guidelines then they might deindex you.

If you have added the site to webmaster tools then they will let you know when there is a problem as long as it doesn't look like your doing anything intentionally blackhat, in which case they won't tell you when you have a penalty.

Just keep building links as normal and you will regain your rank in a matter of days.

I have an advice from my own experience - once a linkwheel is constructed and indexed google crawler comes to take a good look at the site and re position it. if you didn't update your content for a while or some of your pages were missing, it can drop your position, trust me - I've been there.

Get some fresh content updated and watch your position closley

I've ran into the same problem when I started to focus more on SEO for my sites. One of my sites actually dropped off Google for a 2 months and I thought I lost it. But I just kept building back links and suddenly one day it came back to the top.

I've learned that quality content, building slowly, and thorough on-site SEO goes a long way.
