Did Massive Backlinking "Kill" Your Site?

Why are you trying to sound like you know it all? You are making yourself look stupid...for a medium comp keyword you can not rank number one with 0 backlinks

yes you can lol

I didn't hold the spot for long but I deffinetly got there. how?

grabbed the domain (not a variation, the exact keyword but used different extensions such as .org)

redirected to a site I had that was getting large traffic (PERMANENT NOT TEMPORARY REDIRECT). added content to the site that matched the keyword I was ranking for. used social media to advertise the site gaining traffic(no linking)

in a few months I was there.

now once your there it takes more work to hold the position so yes eventually backlinking comes into play.

Oh, so it only took you a few months, just to temporarily hold it, then drop off?

Well this sounds fantastic! I am going to stop building backlinks immediately. My new strategy is to spend several months at a time ranking sites for just 1-2 days. Long term ranking is overrated.

I am going to be honest. None of us are taking you seriously. There is absolutely 100% nothing wrong with building links to your site before the traffic starts coming in.

Do you know why people build links? To spread the word about their website. Nothing wrong with that. It is when you build links to try to manipulate page rank that you have a problem.

How do you use social media without linking to your site by the way? Seems like that would be silly. Do you really believe Google would punish you for linking to your own website on Twitter and Facebook? Now you are just getting silly.

As per my view. if you get more number of unique visits and you did a massive back linking surely google will damage your ranking and it will sand box your website for particular period.

so do back linking , but not massive.

to get there yes...once there I THEN begin massive backlinking and go after new keywords as well as hold on to my current ones. I'm saying it's not a good idea to start a fresh site off with no traffic on massive backlking.

why does everybody have a hard on for backlinking? this forum is all about various ways to draw traffic to a site and backlinking has a concrete rule.

What the fuck do you think massive backlinking is for? lol

Everyone hopes you don't get penalized, but a few thousand poor quality backlinks to a new site directly will hurt, if you don't believe me, try it...

You think everyone who builds links to their site knows about Page Rank or SEO or Blackhat/Whitehat? You don't think anyone in the world simply builds links to try to get visitors and advertising? Not every link that is built is meant for flowing pagerank and changing the serps! A lot of the links I build, are simply to get website owners to my site directly through the links themselves, not for changing the serps.

I tried it. Didn't have a problem.

I wish I could share your optimism Kickflip But i've done some testing of my own as well...

When I just started out, I used Scrapebox and managed to get decent rankings, page 2 or at the bottom of page 1 for low competition sites

Then I bought some Angela and paulies backlinks and like magic 3 of my sites got nr 1 rankings...

Dazzled by succes I started buying thousands of forum profiles, but at start nothing happend or just litle bit of better results...

But I kept at it, suddenly all my sites started dissapearing...

And I've tested this several times and kept getting negative results...

can't speak of blog comments, but profile links will hurt.

I don't really understand. You got #1, and so you bought thousands of forum profile backlinks? This isn't making sense to me. Why would you buy thousands of forum profile backlinks if you were already #1?

I had multiple sites... and bought a monthly service that gave me daily forum profile links for my other sites, I wanted to scale...
It was cheaper than 1 time angela and paulies... and they had some good feedback.. also believed the feedback that backlinking should continue in regular intervals.. so went for it..

I actually came here to comment, but since you guys are fighting over the big G,I'd say,eh..chuck it.

Or did you kill your site with more backlinks in a month than your f'ng sit gets in UVs in a year?

If you don't have that much traffic to your site massive backlinking looks VERY suspicious.

Something to think about. G aint stupid.

Dong..Wrong

Next please

(Oh - I just spammed all my competitors with 2 million porn and worst links..hee hee..I win)

LIfe ain't that easy

The worst thing about G is it's so fing SLOW. The days of whizzing up the ranks unless you are an early adopter have long gone.

Early adopters for keywords or products get a MASSIVE and often totally unfair advantage.

Some of the sites advertising IPad3 now are shit. 300 words of waffle for a product that aint released for ages. But despite there being many sites that come along soon with far better quality and content, these "joke" sites will be occupying half of page one until well after release and making tons of money for the guys that put them up for so little effort.

6 month later Google goes "oh - lets see, this piece of crap site that has 300 words like

'Ipad3 from apple is coming soon, it will play videos and games and have a good screen, it's called the ipad 3 and it's from apple, so I think the ipad 3 from apple will be good, and I expect I will get the wifi or the 3g version of the ipad3 from apple. Here is a picture of an ipad 3 from apple'
With a picture of a fecking IPad 2 tagged as an Ipad 3. Then a video of some idiot on the phone that's been re-commed to say "Ipad3 - release date confirmed"

Well those sites will be raking on money for affiliates long after the sales peak is over, while proper sites with full reviews, analysis and tech specs, proper hints and help are wanking about on page 4 of google.

That's how sodding thick G's algorithms are.

Get in early, and link like a good un. Link and DON@:T STOP.

Yeah they might bounce you for 5 or 6 weeks, but if the product is worth it keep going. The suspicious thing would be to STOP.. KEEP GOING

Typical noobisms.

How about this: any kind of link will hurt if done in excess, i.e. in massive bulk all at once.

Links that deliver traffic directly? a few hundred ok... but at a MASSIVE level you can get that many links on that many sites that actually give you traffic?

first I would say congratulations because a list like that is NOT the norm. hold on to it lol

the general goal behind massive backlinking is changing serps. if you have your own hot list that puts links in front of good streams of traffic you have something special.

@scritty... it's not that simple
You can't send porn links to your competitors.... that doesn't work... You are right about that...

I do know someone with a casestudy here, who tried it differently and it worked for competitors, he just send the right keyword they are both trying to rank for in masses... 50k or something and his competitor... But it's not advisable since it can backfire...

Myth or fact, you decide...

ok you have a point there...BUT do people actually do that? Has anyone buried a competitors site with backlking? Maybe it's possible it just requires a lot of work.

It might be possible and if thats the case there is the proof right there that massive backlinking can kill a site if you dont have it prepped. I think the porn spam thing will do damage to a mainstream site in time.

and yes goog IS slow but that doesnt mean it doesnt catch up eventually.

Thanks for the tip. I'll fill Hrefer full of animal porn, race hate and other such sites and spam my compettion with 300,000 profile links from my Xrumer sites per day
Wow - for 20 minutes of my time [if that] I can destroy my competition.
GREAT TIP - THANKS - YOU'RE THE BEST

[sarcasm off]

I have sites all over the places that are linked to conastantly - day and night - not some penny ante "1000 profiles a day" crap but 20,000-30,000 links per night for week after week after week. They are doing just fine.
I sit here wondering why this fecking conversation keeps coming back to haunt BHW - this must be the 1000th thread on this site with this topic on it

Massive backlinking has my sites sitting on page 1 of google for thousands of KWs.

No backlinks had my site sitting on page 1 of google for dozens of KWs.
Buying a 120 backlinks package on fiverr made it to dive deep in the darkness of google in less than 1 day and staying there for the last 3 months now...

I did. I paid for 3 blasts (80,000 links each) of porn backlinks to the #2 on G (a small site of one person - real estate agent) for a specific KW I work on. It didn't move an inch...It's been 4 months ago...
