Last night I wanted to let everyone know that as I'm in the UK and the Queen's funeral is today that the country is basically shut down for the day and that support would be minimal at best for the day and things would be back to normal as of Tuesday.
I sent out an email from my Domain Hunter Gatherer emailer essentially saying it was a sad day for us and to please be patient with support. I didn't promote anything or even add any links to my website.
So I thought it wouldn't be a particularly big deal to send a simple message with an explanation along with a small blurb about what the Queen was to me with a sign off of God Save the King.
Others disagreed with me on that lol, quite vociferously at times. Here are a couple of snippets of what I received:
"Return us our Kohinoor Diamond that your queen and oppressive agents looted from our soil."
"You do know, i am from a place where your Queen colonized my people to slavery, poverty and inhumane treatment..."
Now I fully understand the chequered history of Britain and the Royal family but let's not pretend other royals and countries weren't also invading and looting, it was common in the past. I don't condone it but I also acknowledge that I can't really change the actions of the past and try not to judge people from the past by todays standards.
Did I fuck up in sending out such an email? I figured some people would be anti royalty but figured people would just think "meh, England stuff" and move on with their day.
Have I really pissed off thousands of people or just a few? I dunno. I'm happy for any feedback and won't name and shame anyone for stating their opinion. If you think I'm a dick then feel free to let me know here, via PM or even carrier pigeon if you are that way inclined.

in general i choose not to comment on any forum or platform when she died in respect to others point of view but i would be really pissed if i had gotten an email like the one you sent lol anyways good luck
