Did i backlink too fast?

Ok I have a niche site I am going to put everything up here not to get traffic but because i am replicating these sites and not getting anywhere and need some help.

I found the niche term "Rock Speakers"
I registered "rock-speakers.info" and built a small site for it
I backlinked it, maybe about 10 - 20 in a day or two

It got indexed fast but now the google PR has gone grey, and it will not come up higher then 190th position. my other terms have far greater competition and I come up first page with in a week, so do you think i over back linked? or could it be my comment page and my links page are duplicate content on all my sites?? they seemed like meaningless pages so i never worried about them.

10-20 back links a day is not much.

sounds like sandbox, if you Google site:rock-speakers.info and results come up, you haven't been de-indexed.

keep building links, you will rank soon enough.

the slower, the better in this case. Otherwise, it may red-alert google.

man 20-30 backlinks a day is nothinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg trust meeeeeeeeeee. Keep working on it, just give it time, if anything is wrong contact google yourself and they will help.
Just keep it up daily, i dont no how u do this manually but fuk good on u! LOL

Actually tssen if you have just registered a brand new domain, 20-30 links per day is complete overkill. You will be penalized. If not now eventually. Google is not stupid. At least their algorythm isnt.
600-900 links in the first month is not natural. This is wreckless seo beyond belief.

Jimilives74 - Although getting the keyword in the URL is important, i think way too many people put far too much emphasis on this being THE most important thing. It isnt. Age of a domain is far more important in terms of SEO. Register an old domain and create a subpage for your keyword. This way you will (but not always) avoid the sandbox and gain more respect from google.

Yeah I sort of figured that 20 on a brand new site was a bit much on day 1, i think it makes them question, probably 3 - 5 is better or at least keep the rate from day 1,2,3 sort of same so 3 a day is better then 10 the first day.

I agree about older domains but the keyword in the url has helped me get first page pretty quick, or do you think its the new found link that creates the interest? in other words had i not used keyword rich domain but used and put new backlinks it still may have gone to first place

keyword rich domain always helps, but put initially only very good 3 to 5 links per day for the first month at least.
Also add only unique content initially so that Google algo does not see anything fishy.
Keep working regularly, your keyword ranking very low will come up within one or two months, it takes time.

Yes it is too fast i guess. I personally experienced the same issue. I made a new blog and made a post. And when i was trying to target the keyword to rank well in Google it was at 750

which is a very competitive niche and worth more than 50$ a day for the keyword term. I did some backlinks around 10 a day and checked it after a week it was not in top 1000. lol

backlinking too fast is not a problem. You will need consistency to support it.

Google rankings dance initially, you have to be very careful not to employ any black hat technique, otherwise Google penalizes you with approx. -40 ranks for each mistake.

hrmm im not sure about that. because ive backlinked many new sites within the first with with well over 50 a day and i seem to do fine. I beleive it could be consistancy that was just recently posted. but yeah thats from my own experience anyway but u could be right aswell!

I tend to believe Google will pick randomly sites to sandbox/dance provided the sites they have to choose from are all above a certain threshold of backlinks per day.

I've seen people go nuts with hundreds of backlinks per day on new sites and be just fine. And there's also your side of the fence which sucks.

This all depends on your competition. Do the top 5 results have a keyword rich domain? How many links do they have? How old are their domains?

If you have the resources time and money you could rank more or less any page for any keyword. Regardless of url and even page relevency. 90% of the sites i optimize do not have the keyword in the url. They want to be the brand for that particular keyword. So in short you do not NEED a keyword rich url no but it all helps. Google likes to move the goal posts.. on a regular basis.

@tssen - hey, yes im not saying firing thousands of links to your site does not work. In the short term it may do. and you may be lucky and slip through the net. Google combes the www for inconsistancies on a daily basis. It just depends on whether you are in this for the long term with potentially years of steady income or you just want a quick buck. Most people on this forum choose the latter.

@pledian- Could you highlight some of the strategies you employ for backlinking.
Does it work without page relevancy? Does Google not check whether the anchor text pointing to a particular page is relevant / related to that keyword on anchor text.

NO way is the 20-30 links a day going to cause trouble. Google wont even see them. It is the duplicate content that google dont like.

ive never had problems with backlinking too fast. I add 20 to 30 backlinks a day but i always maintain consistency.

Also you should think about editing your first post and removing your URL and keyword

Thanks punisher, I didnt put the URL there to get traffic but rather to show my exact problem, I will remove it now, I really have given up on this exact term so I wasnt too worried about it.

I have gotten to number 3 position on a few terms and still only getting 5 - 8 clicks per day, that seems to now be a bigger problem.

I don't think 20-30 a day is huge. As long as your website has quality content, even 50-60 backlinks per day can't stop google to rank you higher.

Just the usual google dance. 10-20 links are ok. The thing about google is that not all sites get hit. If you make 10 new sites on 10 new domains, some are bound to be sandboxed, some will get the usual dance while some will stay on. Try it.

I have a few sites that resisted the google dance and sandbox, and I was like spamming tons of links a day. However, I must admit that most sites will get the sandbox dance if you add links to fast.

This makes me wonder also that google may somehow random(?) pick sites to play with...hmmm
