Determining if Affiliate Tracking is Correct

Affiliate websites have links that point to merchant websites. The common way merchants track affiliates is through cookies.

If I want to test out to make sure my affiliate tracking is working correctly, I assume that I'd need to check out cookies.

What should I be looking for? Is it safe to say that I find some sort of ID number, then my affiliate tracking is working?

pay someone from a different part of the world with genuine ip info and have them send you the recipet number and then see if it updates.
