Depression Medicine

Try every other solution before you resort to medications..

I’ve been depressed since I was 12 I’m 21 now I’ve started to overcome it through my religion and hard work.

Patients do see an improvement after taking their medication correctly, generally speaking. Don’t get your education about psychiatry, physiology or pharmacology here.

Please see a doctor.

How 1 or 2 people respond to “meds” shouldn’t influence if and how you should take them.
Exactly, medicines do work, even temporary but they still work. They can help you get shit done. And can make your life easier and better.
Nothing is permanent

Nothing is more effective than a medicine, they just work, swallow one and after 30 mins you will be changed completely.
It's magic.

Well, no. That’s for the treating doctor to decide whether there is a need for medication or not, and if the benefits outweigh the potential side effects.

And some anti-depressants usually take weeks to “kick in”.

They’re not indicated for “mild” depression but for major depressive disorder, absolutely.

Up to the treating doctor to decide based on his clinical examination and work-up.

I have taken a bunch of different ones and I have friends who have taken a bunch or do still take them. I personally don't "notice" the difference so I just stop taking them. I have never had bad side effects myself, just small things that can be easy to ignore or a doctor can prescribe another medication to also help with it. I don't consider them like miracles for myself. I think they are definitely worth trying if you cannot change your life circumstances in a way that will also help with your depression.

I have never tried it myself, but I think marijuana and CBD are very worth trying also if you can use it in your country. I am sure I will use it when I am older.

It's a really hard topic to discuss on the internet, especially if I don't know exactly what you want to know.

I think if a doctor is willing to prescribe it, it is always worth trying.

Almost half the people giving advice on here need a fucking slap.

Some problems don't get cured when you face them, some problems you can not face alone. Step one of a problem is admitting you have one and then seeking help. Telling someone it's all you is a pile of fucking horse shit.

The rest about you don't need drugs you just need plants... Yes I agree with that to some extent as some drugs to make things worse, BUT show me your PHD not everything is solved with nature and meditation.

OP you can't ask here if they work don't work then buy the no.1 rated Amazon shite.

Go to a doctor go speak to them and see what they say. You don't state what kind of depression you have but just being "not motivated" is not depression either and taking a pill won't fix that.

I've taken drugs for other issues anger (sounds daft) but I was given something that just kept me in check once a day I think that was maybe more to do with depression and other underline issues I took them for 6-9 months it just as I said helped me keep "check" of myself. Can't really describe other than that.

IF you think you have a problem asking a bunch of randoms on a forum is not the answer go speak to someone who can actually help.

Good luck to you.

Exercise..
L-Theanine..
Ashwaganda..
Magnesium
Vitamin D (lack of sunlight/vitamin D also can cause depression)

Our brain is just a machine. The skill & knowledge for us to know how to repair it by ourselves is a must.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. OP, please listen to him. See a doctor.

See 3-4 different doctors (who actually take the time to listen to you, not just prescribe something in 5 minutes). They are humans, too, who can make mistakes, even though they don't want to. We all do.

go to see a doctor, don't ask here, most of the replies are BS, the only valid answers are from these categories of people :

1. Doctor.
2. An ex depressed who can share valuable infos on how he got out of it.
3. A life coach who dedicated whose job is to make people go out of their situation and understand how to change people.

And don't try self help, meditation or mary because it will not resolve anything. (You should listen to me but not taking it as an absolute truth as I am neither one of the 3 I mentioned above :p)

Oh I was actually talking about adhd.
Adhd (modafinil, amphetamine) and other medicines like anti inflammatory, pain killers, anti histamines, decongestant usually kick in within half an hour.
I am not sure about the anti depressants.

Thanks for all your answers.
I'm sure I have depression, but It's nothing new for me, maybe I get used to it.

Feeling slowly, unmotivated, tired, numb...
The only time I become motivated, strong or emotional is when I have couple...
And I end creating emotional dependence, at yeah, ofc it ends bad (the relationship).

Its like a chain, over, and over and over again.

First you make the money...

Then you get the powa...

Then you get the women...

Then you stop being depressed...

:D

On the reals though. Here is how to cure depression.

1. Make money
2. If you have money and you're still depressed, then you just don't have enough money. See step 1.

Don't take this shit mate it will fucckk up your brain.
Look for natural supplements.
Or date girls/boys

Good thread. Feeling really down myself lately and of course it's about money. Money is always the problem for me, I love it and I hate it. When I have none of it I get very f*cking depressed. I agree with others to do things that will improve your life that is a better long term fix. I tried all the pills and weed and all of it just let to addiction and worse depression after but that's just me. Weed works but it doesn't help with focus (at least on what you should be focusing on). The pills can really mess you up. I know some of them permanently altered me and now I feel like idgaf about anything other than of course trying not to be depressed and getting money.

Depression medication sucks. They don't know exactly why some of them work, and they put you through a roulette of them until you eventually feel "better". Most people I know who take these medications still aren't doing any better, they just feel less bad about it.

Don't look for a quick fast solution. Don't just go to a doctor to have them prescribe you script after script chasing after a cheap chemical lobotomy.

Instead, seek a good therapist. There are shitty ones, and there are good ones. It's worth searching for one who is a 'fit' for you, and can help you get to the root of your depression, instead of just masking it with pills that make you feel less.

You don't want to fuck around with these medications unless you have exhausted every other resource, and they are coming at the recommendation of a trained psychologist, instead of a TV commercial.

Anyone remember this commercial over and over again? So fucked up.

That's exactly the drug my physician prescribed me way too high of a dose of and I lost touch with reality.

Any of you have tried em? I want to read some personal experiences

im on amitriptyline for depression
and prozac for aggressive tendencies

does it help, hard to say, i still get twitchy, just maybe
the odd % less than without it. but like most things, there is
no cure, only management,
