deeplinking? how exacttly does it work?

I heard that you can pull deeplinks from your site and post them on the web to dramatically increase your google rankings.

But first off what the heck is deeplinking? and how do you pull deeplinks from your site?

please help me if you can.

Deep links are simply inbound links that link to a specific page on your site rather then its index or home page.

In my opinion, deep linking is the way to go for 2 reasons:

1) If you only build backlinks to your homepage, it doesn't look natural. Should big G ever look at your link profile (and it can happen), you'll be at risk of a penalty or worse.

2) As you build more backlinks to your subpages, it has a cumulative effect which pushes the entire domain up in the SERPs.

The main advantage in deeplinking is the keywords through which you are linked. A homepage link will probably say something like yourdomain.com in the anchortext while deeplinks often offer the exact same phrase you are looking for.

The best way is building a good strong brand through lots of general inbound links (to your homepage for example) and then leveraging that by a few deeplinks with exact anchor phrases. It will make your site skyrocket and stay there as well.

Deeplinks also help to boost up your main pages, as these now deemed good pages link to your main page boosting its own ranking
