    hey guys

im planning to buy a shared server from hostgator for my blog. i am having trouble choosing between the baby and business plans. both are almost same except that the business one offers a dedicated ip. How much importance does a dedicated ip has regarding seo and SERPS and all that.

also i have heard that on shared ip if someone gets the ip blacklisted, its gonna affect my site as well?

It depends on who it is blacklisted by. Most people use dedicated IPs for SSL certificates. Most of the time Google will only count links from different blocks of IPs since its very easy to buy 100 ips on the same IP block and link the sites together.

    I hope that helps you.

A dedicated IP/shared IP on itself doesnt matter anything in terms of SEO/SERP.

Only if you are planning to create a network of sites and interlink them, your should put each site on a different class A,B,C Ip address.

then i guess the shared ip plan from hostgator would be best right? cuz im only gonna have a single blog and SSL isnt that important for that.

The dedicated IP address can help your SEO if you are interlinking with other sites that you (possibly) own on the main shared IP

This honestly doesn't help. Coz Google will know that links are from the same server.

Just go and buy shared hosting. Consider stablehost too. Have got 5 accounts there. All perfect in speed and service. 10 times better than hostgator. and at least 50% cheaper too.:)

    Nice bump.
Yes, it is always good to have dedicated IP, if you can afford it.

    Define "compromised" first.

Means the ip has been penalized flagged by Google for something.
