Hi,

What I'm trying to accomplish is to get myself a new IP because a game that I play has blacklisted my IP. This game detects VPN and proxy connections, so I need an actual, legit IP. From what I can find my options are limited to a residential proxy, which are expensive and often rotating which would also be detected. What I want is simply a static IP, I would only use it to play one certain game.

Now what I was wondering is: it seems some countries have very cheap broadband internet connections. For example it seems in Ukraine you can get a good connection for $10 a month. Is there some service that I'm not finding online that sets up a normal broadband connection for you in a cheap country, and then lets you use it as a proxy of sorts?

I've searched all over this forum and internet but can't find an answer, probably because I am using the wrong terms or I don't realise what I'm looking for. Can anyone here help by any chance? I've tried contacting my provider to have my IP reset, but they're not willing to do that.

I don't know about your ISP but with mine I could pay extra for a static IP or I can turn off my router and say my internet is not working and they change the address for me.

How do you know your IP is blacklisted? They won't tell you, that's for sure.

Could you not use your 4g connection for that? Mobile connections these days are super fast, and give you lots of data; for cheap. That way, you won't need more infrastructure. Just use personal hotspot, and you have a new ip.

Or, just get a cheap vpn. It should work fine as well.

I tried getting it changed, they weren't accommodating. Perhaps paying extra would work.

Just out of interest, what would be the maximum price you'd be willing to pay for such a service?

I'm not sure.. $20 a month?

They told me, it's an IP ban.

That is a good idea yes. As for cheap VPN providers, as far as I know all VPNs are automatically banned. I've actually tried that option, and they have some way to detect it.

if he cant login , thats ip blocked black listed. seems easy to understand.

IP bans aren't common in gaming industry, because this can cause unwanted complications.
Are they gonna ban /32 ? - if player's ISP rotate IP on modem reset, ban is useless
Are they gonna ban /24 ? - this can harm players who are innocent.
Account bans are far more common. As well as changing game files, or tracking hw info.

We don't have information on type of game here, size of player base, is it AAA title, indie or browser game or who knows what.
Once OP said they told him, sure, that settles it.
But without that information - i would disagree with "easy to understand"

It's a ban on simply my IP, so if my IP rotates on modem reset that would indeed work. The game isn't all that big, probably 2k active players.

That explains their radical measures then. Luckily for you, smaller the game, easier it is to circumvent such penalty.
It all comes down to how important this game is for you.
Also VPN detection sometimes depend on VPN you're using, as well as how their blacklist is updated. Was it free VPN? Some of them leak clues like DNS, revealing your true IP.
You can use your phone internet, by connecting phone to PC, using mobile data and internet sharing as Gogol said.
Trade wifi with your neighbor. Explain why you need it, and offer to pay 30-50% of his bill.

Thanks for that link!

I was also just checking Torguard - it seems to give VPN + residential IP for about $26 per quarter. There aren't many experiences with them posted on this forum, anyone here that has tried them out? It seems quite cheap for a residential IP.

Have you considered a cheap VPS to install your game there and use the VPS IP to connect to the game server?

Hi,

I've tried contacting my provider to have my IP reset, but they're not willing to do that.

Why not get a 4G/mobile dongle connection for a mobile ISP from your country? By using it you will have another IP address, different from your ISP's one.

I hadn't no, is that complicated?

A 4G/mobile dongle would work too, but it's expensive as I'd need >5 GB per month.

Regardless, does anyone know who no one has figured out to have actually legit broadband proxies by getting broadband in say, Ukraine, and then hosting that as a proxy? To me it seems like that would be a cheap option with a real residential IP, but it doesn't seem to be offered anywhere.

No its, not. You get a "virtual PC" in the cloud and then you can use teamviewer to access and operate it.

5 GB can cost around $5 to $10 all around Europe (if you buy it yourself).

There are some proxy providers in the marketplace that do just that (with proxies from Poland, Romania and Italy, I think), but each connection will cost you around $50-$60 per month.

So, if 5 GB of 4g dongle seems expensive to you, then a 4g proxy will be more expensive.
