Since the August update, my DA dropped a few points. However the one of my competitors did too (more or less) so I was wondering what this could be.

Site is up to date and optimized, every week there is fresh and unique content, ... . (DA is now at 56 and it came from 62 in August).

If the content is unique, the backlinks are not good that the DA value is decreased automatically.

Check with spam backlinks, if any remove it. And build DA> your site and build social platform it can attract you more traffic.

You might be losing some backlinks. Your content should be valuable and relevant. Check with your backlinks, you might have some bad links that will affect ranking and check for broken links. Try to get links from authority site it will increase DA.

If your backlinks was not in quality then your DA value will be decrease. Try to built you the backlinks through social media platform so your traffic will be more

Dude forget about DA. It's 2020 and that is history.

If your site is ranking as it was used to do, there's nothing to worry about.

Probably some backlinks got removed and that's the reason for the drop. MOZ DA is only based on the DA of the sites linking over to you.

Does building a social platform / generating buzz on social media actually contribute to DA / domain metrics?

Make quality content to your site,
Use the link building strategy,
Take away toxic backlinks.

Just do some High DA backlinks to your site, it will increase again

you will disavow for broken links And build High DA traffic backlinks . After it can increase your Sites DA

Thanks for all the replies, they are really helpful.

I saw a few 'toxic' backlinks and I'm going to fix the ones that get a 404 and edit my disavow file.

I don't have a problem content-wise. Good quality, length and I post almost every day.

I'm going to set up an advocacy system to generate some buzz.

Backlinks are coming naturally because of the good content (+ 2515 in December) but I will try some other techniques as explained on this forum to increase those stats.

All the best. But along with natural back-links you should try to reach manual baklinking approaches to get even more better results

Get your backlinks noticed & work on them. It shouldn't be always related to content.

Try with blog commenting, it will automatically increase.

If it is not about content, then you definitely lost some high DA backlinks.
