Debt Collectors Called And I Lied

sorry for not a very useful answer, but yes you might get in trouble for that

Her favorite trick is to seize a Bank account right after the 1st of the Month when she knows checks are coming through for bills. She gets the money and all the checks bounce costing the debtor a ton of Bank fees as well.

How kind of her :D

Deny Deny Deny - Talk to all the debt collectors that call and answer all their answers and stay calm - welcome their questions and just stick to your answer that you are not affiliated with any ebay account.

Don't worry about it. The "Debt collectors" from eBay/PayPal called my house (around weekly) for a good year and I pretended it was the wrong number. Eventually they stopped. This was 5 years ago, so I think I'm in the clear.

Do yourself a favour and do not waste your time worrying, nothing will happen, take your debt and multiply it by 300 and you will get a rough figure of what I owe to various places. Anyone knocks on my door and I just politely say, sorry not interested and close the door, it really is that simple. I do not know what it is like in the USA but here debt collectors are not ballifs and the only people who can take money or possessions from you are court balifs if you have failed to pay a fine. What you said to them is completely irrelevant, it is no crime to lie to some turd who turns up at your door.

The most I would say this person has to be legitimately worried about in the states at least is having this negatively affect his credit report. But if you don't even have a SSN of Tax ID or bank account linked to this, I don't see it ever coming back to you.

Tell them the person doesn't live here anymore and moved to some made up address.

As Dave Ramsey told me, tell them very calmly "you're not on the list of people we are paying this month." They will get very quiet and say... Well how can we get on the list? :) But seriously just tell them to eff off until you have enough money to pay them.
