Dear Google,
I started my online money making career about a decade ago by creating websites and developing content everyday. Things went well and I made good money with my websites. You then introduced PageRank which is when I think things started to go wrong. Webmasters were ready to kill each other to get backlinks from high PR websites. People made lots of money by selling links on their websites. I know some people invested all their money in building directories which after few years had zero value. I continued to create websites and generate good content. I think I am pretty good at keyword research and on-page SEO which helped my pages rank almost every time.
Around six years ago, my sites started getting lesser traffic and I had to dig into every aspect to see what am I missing. I could see that websites with bad English & thousands of spam backlinks were ranking above my websites which I had grown since few years. I thought the spammers will be penalized soon but a new spammer kept popping up every day using same techniques.
After waiting for around 2 years, I decided that this is it. This is what Google likes and I decided to take the same path. I started creating websites with very little content and tons of backlinks. I did this while I always kept working on my clean websites. As expected, my clean websites were nowhere to be seen and the spam started ranking. Again, I was a bit better than everyone else and my sites ranked high almost every time. I say I was better because you chose to rank websites which didn't even bother changing the header image of the default WordPress theme. I made websites with good design, content, and thousands of backlinks using various tools available.
Things were back again until the recent fred update in March. I was happy that my thin content websites with tons of backlinks were penalized. But, my clean sites did not improve. Even today, I see websites with tons of spam backlinks, bad grammar, bad design etc. are ranking no.1 on Google. My clean websites are nowhere to be seen till page 6 or 7.
I am not sure who reads this but it seems there is a big problem. Crappy websites are ranking well above good and authority websites. Bad content, spam & horrible websites are seen top on Google. Whats happening? Are your drunk? Or have you lost your mind. If you want to set guidelines, make sure you set them for all. This will allow people like us to generate good content which will be ranked on its merit only!
