Here is a recent email exchange between me and Brian Kleiner of AfternicDLS -representing Gregg Ostrick who is the registered owner of the domain- who tried to broker me a parked domain at $44,500, .

    Him:
    Hi Barry,

We are brokering this domain for a private seller who has set the list price: vendorpages period com is currently valued at $44,500.

All sales are on a first come, first serve basis.

    Me:

$44,500? I hope they make cyber squatting illegal. Please note that the private seller and you -and godaddy- will be reading a wonderful review mentioning both his price estimate and the cons of what you and him are doing.

Him (He has a cheek to try sell me another domain):
    Hi Barry

I am sorry the domain is listed outside of your budget for this project.

Domains start at $250 and go up into the millions depending on the marketability of the domain.

I would be happy to help you find a more affordable domain. Please keep in mind the average domain will sell in the

    $3000 to $5000 range.

Pricing for domains can come as a shock , however it is truly a supply and demand business. On an average week

We will sell over $2,000,000 in domains.Hi Barry

    Me:
Supply and demand business? You are preventing legitimate businesses from launching and there is no way VendorPages.com is worth 44k. At max its worth $500 as there arn't any other legit businesses who wish to purchase it... Stop trying to sell me domains, I won't but into schemes or support unethical business practices.

I assume the the owner of the site is: Gregg Ostrick?

    Him:
    Hi Barry

That is the owner. Domains are like real estate. You wouldn?t argue that someone should sell a house for less than market value because it was originally bought cheap.

    Me:

Correct, I would not argue with someone who tried to sell me a house at market value, I would however call a person a fraudster if he tried to sell me a virtual entity -that makes little to no profit- at the same price as a house. Excuse me, but I still have my integrity, so I would rather not banter with you.

Really? You got to be kidding me right?:eek2:

"Cybersquatting (also known as domain squatting), according to the United States federal law known as the anti-cybersquating Consumer Protect Act, is registering, trafficking in, or using a domain with bad faith intent to profit from the goodwill of a trademark belonging to someone else. The cybersquatter then offers to sell the domain to the person or company who owns a trademark contained within the name at an inflated price." - Wikipedia

    I know what cybersquatting is.

My question was how is this a case of cybersquatting?

Or do you own a business / trademark named Vendor Pages?

    44k my ass.

With 44k you can buy 4 PBNs and still have money left to buy a domain + hosting.

You then rape google with your 4 PBN's and make that 44k in a few months, maybe even one lol

Well, if the owner of bitcoinwallet.com thought this way he didn't end up selling it for 250.000$ after he purchased it for 10.000 few months back. This goes for a lot of domain names that on the first look are not worth that kind of money.

This is how the domaining industry goes. There are inflated prices for most domains sure, but eventually they sell. In this specific case I would agree that Vendor Pages domain is not worth 44.000$ (no one will pay that amount for this name) but that's not a reason to accuse the owner of cyber squatting if the domain is registered previously to the TM application for that exact name, if there even is a TM (didn't check, not worth my 5 minutes of research).

OP, if you are the TM registrant of the word "Vendor Pages" and you can prove that this domain name infringes your TM you can file a C&D and contact iCANN in assisting you to acquire this domain name.

Everything else is just frustration and hate talking... Intangible properties are legitimate investments if you know what you're doing so your argument is invalid.

Some people pay hundreds of thousands of pounds for a bottle of wine, is it really worth that much, no. It is worth what someone is prepared to pay, and there are lots of morons out there willing to pay lots of money for worthless things.

I'm not the fool going to pay that much and neither is anybody else... -I dont care how much money or how stupid, there is little to no traffic to that website. It would be cheaper to rebrand, anyone have a good name?

    Haha. Whatever...

Fudge, how long does is take so I can post links, images and profanity apparently? It's so annoying and my vocabulary is so limited. :banghead:
