Currency is not the future? Currency only creates problems.

This isn't even Econ 101. Resources by themselves are worthless. To get value, they require human action. That human action is the whole point of study in economics.
What do u mean by that?

Some fear Penguin and Panda. I fear people who think society can exist without motivation.
Socialism was an interesting idea that would be nice. But it defies human nature of personal gain. You take away personal
accountability and the drive for better. Ever had a "Shared road" where everyone in the neighborhood pays a monthly fee to keep
it up? There is a small example. Road ends of rough as shit and only 3 people out 10 actually pay to keep it up.

Now lets do it with healthcare and every other part of our lives
Socialism requires greed to not exist. And no human is perfect. How can you build a Utopian society out of imperfect people?

Dumbest shit I ever heard. A noble idea from some university hallway. But very impractical.

Zeitgeist? Dont be silly.

ITT lack of education

TVP is not some utopia! Its just a hell of alot better than the current system! Also its nothing close to socialism as there is no money.I suggest u look more into it before blatantly disregarding it and making your own assumptions!

To be frank debt is used to restrain people with the use f interest which rates can be manipulated by Banks, (such as the libor scandal by Banks in England recently).

I don't think the notion of money is the problem its just certain humans today value money more than they do people and that greed is what the problem of the world is today!

For humanity to advance, its not about how much abundance of resources we have (though that helps),its about being united, breaking down these racial/class barriers that society has greatly developed over the years and to be more truthful with one another. If people were more like that than to focus on the future advancement will be much easier.

But than again that's just wishful thinking because... (as the no1 commandment of BHW) we need to first take action!

Currency is not going away and it doesn't cause problems, people cause problems for themselves.

When will this bs on BHW stop with people trying to blame an invisible boogeyman for the bad choices they made in life.

Tell that to a kid born in Turkana!Gota agree though this is indeed a froum to make $$ hahah

They still use animals for wealth they never created currency, that is their problem.

Dude u have to be trolling! The only thing that ever improved humans lives is scinece and technology not some imaginary thing called money!
Most of today's technologies were and are being developed because of earning potential from them.

I love the Zeitgeist series. However radical the departure from the status quo, it's premises are reasonable as thought experiments, at the least.

The issue(s) I end up taking though are these:
  1. Money/Currency isn't really the problem IMO. The problem is Interest (as in the fee paid by a borrower of assets to the owner as a form of compensation for the use of the assets), and the pseudo-wealth created when those Interest monies assumed to exist serve as the basis of wealth generation. This is rampant, and infuses the Global economy with a gargantuan amount of economic fiction that, sooner or later, evaporates; leaving gaping holes for real wealth to be funneled further upward. In short: Interest serves as the vector of what is perhaps best described as 'legal theft.'
  2. The Zeitgeist series is based almost entirely in the following assumption: if only people are given a well-reasoned window into where we as a species are potentially headed, we'll all go hands-across-the-planet for sustainable organic Goji berry farming and cities comprised of concentric rings so as to maximise efficiency. If there's anything that solidifies in my perspective of this world, further and further, every year that I live, it is the following: 1.) Nietzsche was right: The world is will to power, and nothing besides; 2.) People are not inherently 'good' -- at least not on the grandiose scales required to affect the changes recommended in the series; 3.) The natural order of anything is that the strongest/most adaptable rise to the top of a given thing, then press their will on the rest. Indeed, as I type that, it strikes me that the whole of human history can be accurately summed-up in that former sentence. In short: Even in the new Zeitgeistian world, the strong and adaptable will seek to accumulate unto themselves via altering the system to their advantage. And they would: It's elemental; evolutionary; perhaps even Darwinian.

It's quite easy to understand....
You need some type of trade for people to share and distribute goods. In the far past, if was commodities such as goods you made, services, or valuable metals (such as gold).
However, now you have the 0.01 percent which come to roughly 80 people in the world that now control ALL decisions due to their great wealth. This is the reason why you have paper currency rather then commodities. Paper currency is much easier to control and is even traded on all major global stock markets. If you can control currency, you can control billions of peoples destinies. Which keep you rich and those under you poor, since you control that.

Interest is not a problem, people agree to the interest rates when they get a loan. And if they can't pay more then they shouldn't have gotten an ARM.

I was speaking of Interest macroscopically (capital "I" Interest). Which is most definitely a problem.

Money = Time, Time = Progress, advancement, workforce. Money is the fuel which makes the human civilization work like a machine. No fuel = No workforce and the machine of the human civilization would cease to operate like it does. Someone needs to drive the bus, someone needs to fix your electricity, someone need to build new houses, someone needs to deliver your packages, someone needs to fly people from a country to another, someone needs to make food available in nice packages so you can eat whenever you need food, someone needs to work late hours at emergency when one gets in a life threatening situation.
Without the economic system we have today, noone of this would be possible, as we have not reach the state where most of our daily needs can get by with automation.

We need this system that we have today, but does this mean that we will always have it? Of course not, every system will always collapse or change, evolution is based on change and the world never stays in the same state for a long period of time, change ALWAYS occur and this also apply to the human civilization. We're advancing faster and faster, the world won't look the same in 150 years when everyone in this generation is dead, change always occurs whenever you want it or not.

But it defies human nature of personal gain.

This is where you're wrong. Personal gain is NOT human nature, it's a condition you acquire.

I know people who would happily come build your house with you for free, just to help you. You'd do the same in return by helping them build there's.

Obviously this statement by itself is very bold but by looking at this thread I see that society is too ignorant to see anything else work.

No wonder why most don't care.

"I know people who would happily come build your house with you for free, just to help you. You'd do the same in return by helping them build there's". = I pat your back, your pat mine, that is personal gain. If you'd take your time to help others build their houses and noone would even bother to help you, you would stop helping other people to build now wouldn't you?

Personal gain IS in the human nature, how do you think natural selection works and why we try to maximize our own life pleasures, we strive to live a pleasurable life as do every other animal, we strive for pleasure and not pain.
You wouldn't give your happiness to some random stranger only to be left without it now would you?

Your motivation, your desires are there for your personal gain which is the driving force you are working by, without personal gain how could we have any desire or motivation to make our lives better for ourselves?

Money could be a problem BUT money is not THE problem. Money is just ONE tool like many others in this world. If people attach to it then yeah could be a problem. For example, they go to Africa countries and literaly slave people to find diamonds. Diamonds are not money and worth a lot more than it. Power might be the problem tho. But power by it self is not a problem only if people attach to it. If you want to live in a today society you need money thats it - money by it self is just a tool or in others words its a commodity to help people to trade. Now tell me how a MESS this world could be if people still trading potatos to pay internet bill?

Like I said, power is more problem than money for sure. Thats why this world is so cruel, currupted and people die on a MINUTE basis.

People who want more power literaly kill inocent people but tell me how could you SAVE people without power? Same way as money, power is just a tool that can be used for good or bad. Nothing less nothing more.

Tho I agree with many things on that documentary. For sure there are a LOT of people who should watch it.

It's all about how we organize our social structure in order to create material goods. We are constantly evolving and with that said our social capitalistic structure may come to an end as we evolve into greater spiritual beings.

Why do we force 1 year olds and toddlers to share long before any educational development or learning process?
Yes, I know people who would help you build your house for free. You have to admit people like that are difficult to come by.

Not enough of them to build a society of socialism.

Reading between the lines, it seems you're taking a rather pejorative view of "personal gain" when there is no need to do so. There is nothing 'evil', bad, sinister or inherently wrong with gaining personally. Further, were personal gain a "condition you acquire" (it isn't) one would be engaging in the acquisition of said condition for personal gain. Were one not engaging in the acquisition of said condition, it would be, by definition, for personal gain. Your statement is absurd, therefore.

I know people who would happily come build your house with you for free, just to help you. You'd do the same in return by helping them build there's.

Altruism only goes so far before macroscopic realities set in. Human nature, specifically (e.g. personal gain).

That reads as pretty defeatist on your part. Anyway, mate, asking people what they think about something then insinuating that they're ignoramuses because their responses don't goosestep with your ideal is...well.... kinda ghey, no?.
