Hi all, I'm thinking of getting into crypto mining. Can you recommend any cryptos that can be mined using a laptop and which mining software to use? Thanks.

Forget mining on your laptop. You need a dedicated GPU mining rig to make at least some money.

Mining as of now is extremely expensive and consumes a ton sh*t of power. There is no laptop or mining software that can be able to do that. Get a rig and move to Antarctica and try your luck

You're wrong! Several coins can be mined on a laptop. You're referring to BTC and ETH which obviously can only be mined with expensive hardware! Get your facts straight!

Haha, yes. 5 years mining large scale, I have no idea.
If you want to make 10$ a month from your laptop, no problem, if it's worth to you.

I've heard of people mining cryptos worth between $300 to $900 monthly from home so it's a decent source of bonus cash!

An i7 lappie with a high end graphics card used to mine new gen coins will give a decent amount!
It looks like you already know which coin to mine. I don't see any point in this thread.
Just a reminder, your laptop won't be usable while mining. Also, you have to run it 24/7 for months, maybe a year to break even. It will overheat like hell. If you really want to mine, buy a desktop and put a dedicated GPU in it. It will be cheaper, will have higher hashrate and temps will be much lower.

Will look into it.

You're kind of toxic for someone who needs advice

Nope, I'm just looking for proper advice and not assumptions and presumptions of which you have many!

You cannot mine good coins with laptop. Some coins you may mine but they will be useless.

You cannot mine coins with a laptop and expect "profit"

The problem with mining is and has always been HARDWARE, If you can find it

You can buy Antminers on Bitmain.com. Before you do, determine your break even point (how many months)
AND your electricity cost (double the cost in the calculators because you must COOL the machine with AC
after you have heated it by mining)

Otherwise you need GPU cards. Check the prices on newegg and calculate the break even time and you
will see that it is many months to break even.

ALL MINING IS A BET. You are betting that you can mine and keep the coins until the price goes UP and that
your equipment does not fry from running it 24x7. If the price goes down, your ROI may stretch to months or years.

If you can keep the coins long term then your only risk is the hardware cost and a bit of electricity.

Example - On Bitmain.com today - Antminer S19J Pro - Bitcoin miner - 104 Terrahash per second - $11,024 USD

https://www.coinwarz.com/mining/bitcoin/calculator
3KW power consumption and $0.05 for electricity (this is a commercial rate) gives $19.61 profit per day

The break even point for this machine is 562 DAYS.

That is a LONG TIME

Sincerely,

The Eye
