As for Tornado Cash, I have used mixers myself, quite often in the past.
Wasn't to money launder, wasn't due to stolen funds, wasn't anything illegal.
It was just I didn't like the thought of people able to trace me.
How much I move from wallet A to B and how much I keep in Wallet C and D.
It's not the tool that is dangerous, it's the people who use it that is dangerous.

It's really a sad day for crypto.
& most likely, this is just the beginning.

I agree with you. It hurts the entire cryptocurrency market. Unfortunately, there will always be a loophole for bad activities to continue irrespective of the kind of regulations put in place.

Have you not understood yet that it's not money, or backed by money? It's not legal tender.

The act of running my BTC to ETH through 100 mixers is my choice alone, and no gov should care.

Of course, you have your opinion, and whatever I say will not change it.
But you could try and look at the matter from a different perspective.

Not everyone who uses mixers is a druglord or cybercrook.

I never understand people who put effort into bizarre replies that don't even begin to make sense. Cryptocurrencies are legal tender when a government defines them as such. That's the law part of the definition of legal. Both Central African Republic and El Salvador have adopted Bitcoin, a cryptocurrency, as legal tender. Of course a government should care if they are not able to easily track where money goes to and comes from. It doesn't matter if you aren't breaking any laws, and it doesn't matter if you are paying all of the taxes you owe to the government. The government doesn't just operate on the honor system, they need to be able to investigate and confirm. Absolutely nobody suggested anywhere that everyone who uses mixers is a drug lord or cybercrook. That's called a logical fallacy and it shows me what kind of person you are when you need to resort to ridiculousness like that.
 
True but at the end of the day you can still use the service. Even if the github is banned. Banned the address on CEX people sell it on dex.

Btw ATM gov already can track every single movement of your money if they wish for it, and crypto is tracked of you liquidate it on CEX. And gov will never let go of this power. There is no gov in the world that will accept it. Democracy or not. And this is why I love crypto at least you have choice to what is tracked or not.

Being able to hide your transactions is not an essential liberty. Nobody is giving up anything to purchase "a little temporary safety." I am really not sure why you think that quote would be relevant here.

in this case it's liberty to have the option to, than for your safety from said scammer etc, you give up the option for it. when you allow all your transac to be tracked.
and when your transaction is public, that just mean anyone can use blockchain to see your portfolio money and capital, hence " little temporary safety"

It's a liberty, but not an essential liberty. You want to benefit from the government, but you don't want the government to have access to the information they require to efficiently operate. You can transact using regulated services that provide the information to the government when necessary if you need to keep information private from the general public.

I would suggest you read some scholarly opinions about the quote you think supports your position.

If you gain a better understanding of the quote and the context in which Benjamin Franklin said it, you would see that he is actually meaning closer to the opposite of what you think it means. Benjamin Franklin would absolutely be against mixers, because it hampers the efforts of the government to both stop funding to criminal organizations, and appropriately tax the people.

The quote is PRO TAXATION to LITERALLY protect Americans from physical attacks.

Based on my personal experience, using regulated service or even official gov held no guarantee at all. the information end up being sold in black market or even hacked and released to the public.

but my context on using that quote is more, for every "safety" that someone promise you, it will cost you your liberty. and its only promise no guarantee, just like we pay tax, no guarante when shit happen the law protect you with no string attached.

You don't get to pick and choose what you want from the government and only take what benefits you and ignore the rest. It's a package deal. If you are concerned about guarantees, you can go to a country without a functioning government, and be guaranteed that they will provide no services. How do you think a government can function if it can't track the movement of funds efficiently and effectively?

Majority of the people who use mixers, use them because they want financial privacy. Laundering happens in almost every financial system, but they don't shut those systems down because they get a "cut" from the transactions. Here they don't get shit, that's why the sanctions and bans and the conspiracies.

Well in my country i can, luckly i dont live in total authorian gov that force it like you say "don't get to pick and choose" as long you know how things work it's no problem. as for benefit well it's only infrastructure paid with tax that is get corrupted more than half and only leftover put into it.

They forget that gov is only group of people that change every few years. and every single of those people have their own self interest.
