And to everyone saying it's unethical...just remember that every time you eat eggs, unless you bought them cage free, they were laid by hens in cages that are too small to flap their wings in. Factory farms that produce eggs are truly terrible. All the mayo you buy in the store and that goes on your restaurant sandwiches comes from eggs laid by hens living truly hellish lives.

Compared to those hens, saltwater crocs raised for food and leather are relatively well off. Considering that they are reptiles, and cows are mammals, it seems a little stupid to say raising crocs for meat and leather is unethical when we do the same thing to cows every day.

Of course it all comes down to the money. Most of the messed up stuff that happens to animals happens because it's profitable. Someone is making a living off of those suffering animals. They say money is the root of all evil, but it's really the lack of money that's the root of all evil. If everyone had all the money they wanted, none of the evil committed for money would occur.

Well whenever I buy eggs I buy cage free eggs, and instead of mayonnaise I buy a vegan alternative. I still eat chickens because meat chickens aren't trapped in cages. The life of a meat chicken is very messed up, but not nearly as messed up as an egg chicken. Only egg chickens are forced to live in cages, egg chickens have it the worst.

So for an on topic post: What would it cost to have 6 of the larger full hides shipped to Vegas? Feel free to pm me if you don't want to interrupt the peta vs meata discussion.

Comparing this to other unethical acts doesn't mean it's ethical. I don't think that killing animals for cute accessories is ethical. If they kill them for meat and the croc skin is a by-product then it's not as bad.

It's things like cutting off shark fins and chucking them back in the ocean or scraping and feasting on a monkey's brain while it is still alive which are just completely greedy/wasteful and/or cruel. I agree, legal and ethical are completely different, everyone is entitled to their own views.

Sorry, been away, nice reaction from some board members, and a few interests. I will be heading over to the Philippines in 2 weeks, and I will be meeting up with this guy. At that point, I'll know whether it's a scam or not (I'm 99% sure it's not a scam, but hey, one can't be too careful).

It doesn't matter what the animal's used for, what matters is the life it lived and the way it died. I wouldn't care if someone made a fur coat out of 100 dalmation puppies as long as the puppies lived in decent conditions and died as painlessly as possible. I'll eat cows and chickens all day but factory farm conditions still creep the hell out of me. Especially egg farms, those hens have it really, really bad.
