Hello every one Sorry if i put this post in wrong place

I really need your opinions about this kind of scam, it is scam or it just normal

Im working as freelancer webdesigner and currently i just received work of person needs a website but i have a doubt : here is what he said

Your information's are in details and i enjoy what i read so far, just make me proud. I am okay with the estimate and i want to proceed so i will be depositing $2,000 using credit card so work can commence Asap, i understand the content for this site would be needed so as for the job to commence so regarding the content i will need a Little favor from you and the reason i need this favor from you is because the consultant does not have the facility to charge credit cards and am also current working on a ship as a marine engineer so i will be glad if you can help me out with this favor.


The favor i need from you is, i would give you my card info's to charge for $4,600. so $2,000 would be a deposit payment for my website design and the remaining $2,500 would be sent to the project consultant that has the text content and the logo for my website so once he has the $2,500 he would send the text content and logo needed for my website to you also the funds would be sent to him via cash deposit into his bank account, sending of funds would be after funds clears into your account and also $100 tip as form of Gratitude and include any other charges such as company and credit card company charges.

SO guys It is safe ? because maybe he will give me stolen credit card or maybe i should ask him for an id copy Please guy i need your opinion

Something is definitely up. I don't know enough to pinpoint exactly what it is, but someone here can. Be cautious before proceeding.
 
Yes, it's scam.search in Google for "marine craigslist scam" same thing
 
Stay away from it, you as the one who will be charging the CC will end up in court or even worse jail. And he'll end up with $2,500. Plus you'll have to repay the whole amount to the CC company. Not to mention possible criminal record. And it will cost you a fortune to clear your name even if you can prove that it was an honest mistake.

this definitely reeks of a scam. This used to happen with people sending invoices for things not paid, but held for whatever. Report him/her
 
badly written attempt, i cracked up at the marine engineer part :)

report it to the proper authorities
 
He's probably impersonating one of the people who get the money. If you wanna be police for a day, give him more rope and let him hang himself, ask for details, ID, address and so forth and then hand it all to the FBI for shits and giggles.
 
Run fast run far. That sounds like a variation on the old "cash this check for me and send me the difference" scam. In short, it is probably not his credit card and he needs you to run it and give him the difference because he doesn't have another way to access the funds. Once he gets the money he will skip off into the sunset and leave you to stammer out this story to the police when they come banging on your door screaming about credit card fraud. I could be completely wrong and he could be a marine engineer or whatever, but honestly its probably a scam. Ask him some questions and report him. Hell if you tell him you can't run the card I bet he gives you a list of others to try. Most scammers have a ton of them and they go down the list until one of them works.
 
No one (no matter how rich they are) would be so reckless with their money.
Passing that sum around like it's peanuts, it not something wise to do.

Tell him to exchange the money for bitcoin and send it to you that way.
Wonder what he'll say.
 
hmmmm i sense an innocent victim is going to have a chargeback on there hands...

You'd be surprised what people fall for.

A client of my girlfriend has re-mortgaged their house twice because of scams.

It's definitely a scam!
You should ask for his id and then report to proper authorities!
 
I just ignore him, i was sure that something is wrong now i will add some Ad in CL saying that there is some scammer there

It is always scam if somebody asks you to send money to somebody else.....
