X, formerly Twitter, is facing a major backlash from some of its most loyal users. Many accuse Product Chief Nikita Bier of damaging organic reach with an unpredictable algorithm that suppresses creators. Long-time accounts claim the platform now limits free expression, restricts links, and pushes users toward paid plans of up to $40 a month without delivering real visibility. Critics argue that the system favors low-value content while sidelining critical voices and weakening creators’ direct connection with their followers. Some veteran users now say it is easier to grow on Facebook or Instagram than on X.

Nikita here says that one of the reasons we sometimes get poor reach is because we’re “inactive for an extended period of time”

By reposting his old post, Nikita made it clear that it was time to put an end to the complaints about the Creator Fund.

The situation with X is getting out of hand, with many creators feeling like they're being forced into paid plans just to get some visibility. It's pretty clear that the algorithm is favoring low-quality content over more meaningful posts, which is a big problem for anyone trying to build a genuine following. Nikita's response about inactivity being a reason for poor reach doesn't really hold up, since many of these creators are consistently posting high-quality content and still getting suppressed. The fact that veteran users are saying it's easier to grow on Facebook or Instagram is a big red flag, and it's likely that X will lose some of its best creators if things don't change. The Creator Fund is just a band-aid on a bigger issue, and X needs to rethink its approach to supporting creators if it wants to stay relevant. By pushing users toward paid plans without delivering results, X is essentially shooting itself in the foot.

Many users are criticizing X (formerly Twitter) for reducing organic reach and limiting free expression.
They claim the algorithm under Nikita Bier favors low-quality content over meaningful posts.
Creators also feel pressured to buy expensive paid plans without guaranteed visibility.
As a result, trust in the platform is declining among long-time users.
Some now find it easier to grow on Facebook and Instagram instead.

I agree it's basically 90% slop at this point, and the other 10% is just course sellers with increasingly outlandish and insane claims. Now people are claiming 0 to 2M MRR in 5 months. 5K in one night just by giving my openclaw this article. Sigh. Unfortunately not much we can do they're definitely seeing that slop has engagement so either way they're getting advertising rev growth etc.

There’s likely some truth to the complaints. Platforms like X often tweak algorithms to boost revenue, which can reduce organic reach and frustrate creators. But it’s also normal for engagement dynamics to shift over time. Whether it’s truly “worse” depends on the user some adapt, others struggle more.

Your X Pay is about to take a major hit. According to Nikita, the existing creator fund will now be redirected to boost livestream earnings.
Long story short: if you want to get paid, you'd better start going live.
Do you support or oppose this move?
