creating new PayPal.. need your input.

I searched the forums and most of the PayPal threads were in this Ebay section.. but this post is really only about PayPal.. so if it's in the wrong section please move it.. and sorry.

I'm from the US and I had a PayPal account in the past setup with my SSN and all valid info.. along with their debit card. About 3 years ago I got into drugs pretty bad and did some stupid stuff online.. resulting in my paypal getting suspended with a negative balance and eventually they sent it off to collections. I believe it was NCO Financial.

I've recently got clean about 2 months sober right now.. and I'm working on a few projects with an old partner. We make payments back and forth to each other via PayPal.. we aren't selling any items online through ebay, craigslist or anything.. so we won't be getting any chargebacks.. so nothing to worry about with that. Right now I'm using my dads account (with his permission). But I'd really like to get my own PayPal setup again. I'm curious if anybody knows whether I would be able to setup a PayPal with my SSN again or if they'd auto ban me as soon as I added that? I tried calling PayPal to see about paying them back the negative balance but they said it had been sent to their collection agency and they had nothing to do with it anymore. I still haven't paid back the collection agency, but I do plan too as soon as we start making monies.. but I don't want to end up getting the funds locked up in PayPal while I'm trying to make everything right either.

What do you think I should do here?

Should I just keep sending to my dads account until I can pay back NCO Financial.. or do you think it would be safe if I just used a different email, phone number, bank account.. and everything and just not put in my SSN yet.. does it make you put that before you can withdrawl money into a bank? (My bank account is different from the one I had back then as well)

If I purchased a stealth paypal, I wouldn't be able to withdrawl money into a bank account though.. would I? I could only make online purchases through vendors that accept paypal?

yeah I want also know how to get money to your own bank account from a bought verified paypal account? is that possible even the paypal is from asia??

Using your SSN when creating a new account while having another account that is either limited or in the negative will definitely get that and the other accounts perma-banned.

Using your Dad's account(even though different details) will still most likely eventually get his account limited as well.

Purchasing a PP account from someone will eventually wind up with it being limited.

Change the ip, user name on your comp, and use completely new details(as long as the address is legit. e.g. po box) Don't use a proxy or VPN.

Sign up for a Greendot card(this requires your SSN), and use the banking and routing number they give you to verify your new stealth account. PP can not see the bank account details.

Do not log into your old account at all until you pay off the negative balance. If it has been sent to collections then there is no need to log into the account. Pay off your negative when you are able. They should re-instate your account but they may still limit it.

Do not log into both accounts from the same computer even after you pay off the negative. Do not log into your Dad's account and your stealth account from same ip or else they will be linked and eventually become limited.

Do not send money back and forth to each other, especially from the same computer. PP will limit all the accounts.

If you do pay off your negative balance and if they re-instate your account, put the stealth one to sleep and keep it for a backup.

Best thing to do is setup a stealth account

Theres a very good ebook caled ebay stealth that will in detail give you the exact info as to how this is done properly, also a very good forum to accompany the book

for withdrawal of your funds you can use elance or a similar service

in addition depending on the scale of your business you could also setup a company with a linked bank account and use those details and a different address to setup PP

its not easy, but there are solutions

if I go the GreenDot card way should I use real info when signing up for that? Paypal won't be able to see my name and/or SSN from that?

also If I do verify my stealth paypal with the bank info GreenDot gives me after signing up.. will paypal eventually end up asking me for my SSN? that's what I'm mainly worried about I think. because I can get a PO Box easily.. and i have VPN access on a friends pc (he doesn't use paypal) so no worries about linking my stealth and his.. or my dads.

No they will not see your SS with a greendot set up and you can use your real info with a minor change like one letter in your last name and a street address that is off by one digit, e.g. 1000 main st instead of 1002 main st.

They may or may not ask for a SS down the road but that is easy also as you can get an EIN in about 4 minutes online and use that.

I was thinking about getting an assumed name to do business with as it didn't cost as much.. but my SSN would still be the same.. I didn't realize it was that easy to get an EIN.. I use to have an EIN through an LLC with an old business venture.. but required more upkeep and money then I'd be willing to use for something like this.

Apply online for an EIN.

Depending on the State you are in you can get a DBA very quickly as well.

can't get the "apply online now" link to load from that.. guess it's down will try again later.

this might be a lot easier then being afraid about a stealth account, and I can get a bank account under my EIN too.. so i'm not afraid my money is going to get randomly locked up in the middle somewhere before I can get everything taken care of.

need to research some more and find out how much upkeep and fees are yearly for obtaining the EIN through their online portal.

You can still make a new account, just change a lil bit the address, you must have a new bank account and credit card (or use vcc) and you will be fine. But if they catch you they will block your account again.

@BTB; can you correct me if i'm wrong here.

when setting up the EIN for sole proprietorship it looks like all I have to do with my state is file an assumed name and then renew it each year, and that's 20$ a year. (If I used my own name I wouldn't have to do this though)

I'm going to talk to my Aunt on Sunday, my dad said she'd probably let me use her address so I don't have to pay for a PO Box, she doesn't have a paypal or anything. I'd rather do that then PO Box or changing my address around.. then hopefully apply for my EIN on Monday with an assumed name and get a bank #, and then on to paypal.. will use a private proxy to signup and different email, phone number.

on a side note, I'm thinking about moving to Daytona, FL in 3rd quarter of this year with my brother and his fam.. if he does go through with it. I need some sun. We've been looking at places on craigslist and finding some nice places with 3-4br/ba, pool, 1 mile from priv beach.. around 1200-1600/mo.. I'll probably just be paying 400$ month. . some have seperate Mother-in-law suites.. which would be nice for me.
