Creating dummy store before contacting suppliers

Hi Members

I am not sure I get part. So, if i have to sell any item, do i just put the dummy products with dummy prices and everything dummy? How do suppliers take that? Is it legit enough for them. How prepared should the website/store be. Does it need to be fully functional?

Sorry for duplication.

MODS: the default color for a newbie post is set to black. Can somebody fix this?
