Creating a single new Instagram profile

Hello,
I’m just trying to get started with a test use case. I want to create a singular, separate IG account that isn’t connected to my main. Most advice here is for multiple accounts, but for the time being, I just want to test and see if I can get a single account going.

I’m going to the store to get a prepaid phone. What are the steps I need to take from there to set up this lone account? Thanks for any insight.

For a single IG test account, you're fine with just a prepaid phone and a clean SIM card, as long as nothing links it to your main (IP, device, cookies, etc).
To be extra safe, consider using a separate browser profile (or an anti-detect browser like AdsPower or Incogniton), and optionally connect through a mobile proxy, which gives you a clean, natural 4G IP.
That said, if it’s just one account and you're careful, you can likely get away with standard precautions without needing advanced setups.

I had previously bought a prepaid and tried to create a new Gmail account and then sign up on IG, but was immediately flagged (something to the effect that there was an error trying to create the account and to check back later). I never followed up on it, as I didn’t want to risk having the phone flagged, but as this was several months ago, I assume IG has deactivated it.

Would I want to create a new email account, let that stand for a week or so and then try signing up for the IG account?
 
Pre paid simcard and a gmail account is fine. That can allow you to have full security of the account with added trust from instagram since the number hasn't been used and the email is clean aswell.
 
Make an account on the new phone with data and a gmail account and phone number attached to it, its as straightforward as it sounds.

Letting the email sit for a few days is actually a good idea, especially if you add a bit of natural behavior (stable login location, opening some emails, etc). What likely got you flagged the first time was stacking too many fresh signals at once: new device, new IP, new Gmail, all in one go.
To increase your chances, create the Gmail using a clean setup (browser profile or anti-detect), let it rest for a few days, then create the IG account from the same environment. Using a mobile proxy during the whole process gives you a rotating but legit-looking IP, which helps bypass most IG filters even when starting from scratch.

  • Insert SIM: Put the prepaid SIM card into the new phone.
  • Connect to New Network: Use mobile data or a completely different Wi-Fi network than your main phone.
  • Install Instagram: Download the Instagram app on the new phone.
  • Sign Up: Create a new Instagram account using the prepaid phone number.
  • New Email: Use a unique, new email address for registration, not one linked to your main account or anything personal.
  • Decline Connections: Crucially, when prompted, do NOT connect to Facebook, sync contacts, or add to any existing "Accounts Center."
  • New Profile Info: Use a distinct username, profile picture, and bio.

That’s really great info, thank you. Is the mobile proxy necessary, and if so, what seems to be the consensus on the best one?

Thank you. Would a mobile proxy be recommended for this, or would a new phone/email/mobile data strategy be enough on its own? I know Instagram has been cracking the whip hard on this activity within the past few months.

Very cool. I know people use proxies here, but that seems more geared for bulk account creation. Would you recommend it for a one off operation like this?

For one clean IG account, here’s a simple setup flow:


  1. Buy prepaid SIM + new phone (or factory-reset spare)
  2. Use mobile data, not Wi-Fi (for a fresh IP)
  3. Create a new Google/Apple ID (don’t link to existing ones)
  4. Download IG from app store
  5. Register with the new phone number/email
  6. Avoid linking FB or contacts
  7. Keep activity natural for the first few days (no spammy follows or links)

That’s it—clean, low-risk setup for testing.

Do not connect your phone with your wifi else again your new account will get blocked
