Crazy Google Dance In The Last 24 Hours

I experienced the same issue.
Ranking is dancing like crazy even I've tested PBN before applying to money site!

I've experienced the same as most here. The serp drops came in pretty quick on 2 of my websites.

Nearly all keywords dropped well over 30 spots. I thought it might be a manual action at first but I've received to messages in the search console.

One of the 2 websites had a significant level of SEO and the other was "relatively" clean.

At the end of the day I've had it in my mind that for site 1 it was not ever a question of if, but more like when.

Site number 2 was a surprise though because the SEO that was done was mostly social, a handful of citations and 4 links from my PBN.

I've checked my PBN sites and they "seem" to not be in bad shape.

What's more odd though is that a few (very few) keywords remained on page 1 while everything else plummeted.

I have not experienced a bounce back or significant changes in serps (good or bad) since it happened.

We'll see...

I haven't experienced any major drops, but my link profile is pretty diverse and only a small portion are made up of PBN links.

When did this happen on your 2 sites?

I saw a rankings being pushed up and down warning on semrush , if quite a few people are experiencing this than its an algo update , that happens time to time I am so used to it now .

Same issues here from Europe. 2/10 websites lost ranking from page 1 result #1-5 (for 2 years) to page 100000
Anyone experiencing some bounce back? Or should I expect this to be definitive? Any thoughts?

Noticing some changes on TF/CF and PA/DA too.. so certainly something going on here.

I doubt it has to do with PBN linking. I've seen competitors whom did hell lots of PBN backlinks and they're still ranking fine.

I suspect it has to do with anchor name diversity, and content.

When did this happen on your 2 sites?

It happened on 3/7 around between 3-5PM as far as I can tell. That's at least when I noticed it.

As for questions about and content on these 2 sites. Both have a very diverse backlink profiles and the content is quite good (but hey, i'm not Google - I don't get to play in their perspective, so who knows) but when I compare my content to niche competitors, mine is always longer (sometimes reaching 5k words in length), more in depth, deeply researched, sited/quoted and all the good stuff. - If anyone is wondering about that.

Maybe about the content and anchor text diversity....If this is the case, then it changes my perspective quite a lot.

As for your observation about competitors and PBN links. I see this too. A lot of spammy sites with old content have popped up on page 1 that I've seen. Rebel Mouse, etc. I also had an old old old youtube video that plummeted a couple of years ago to randomly pop-up on page 1 now...

Its odd, but lets see how it unfolds.

This is strange, almost none of my keywords changed and all of the SERPs I monitored stayed the same... so it must be something you guys are doing that they went after.. you using pbns from marketplace?

LOL when you think of it, it's fairly easy for G to crack up on P(ublic)BNs that sell links. Just go and buy service (I do think they can afford it), see where links are coming from. Gather them all and do cleanup once a month. :) Simple as that. When you think of it, this kind of SERP movement was on 7th Feb, and now 7th March... :)

Some of the KWs that I'm following are still the same no ups or downs.

Pbn networks from the marketplace might be getting de-indexed, I just checked one and seems like 50%+ of the network is gone. It accepted payday loans, coc hacks etc. And it was spammed (posts would roll to inner pages, not perma home page posts)

Nope. A few IM friends of mine had their own p(rivate)BNs that they created their own - never purchased from marketplaces - but they also suffered the same fate.

The competitors that are ranking well are most probably utilising P(ublic)BNs from marketplaces or fiverr as it links to many other different totally irrelevant sites.

Also, take note of this: the affected money sites weren't deindexed. Some of its keywords or long-tail keywords are still ranking well (as even discussed by some affected BHWers). So I believe it has to do with anchor diversity and content.

Yea, that's called Penguin 4, it's a granular algorithm meaning it can drop you off X keywords but not the the other ones. They designed it this way on purpose.

Perhaps there's a new Penguin update and it has stricter requirements? lol, I don't know.

I guess the best we can do now is wait... if not, just move on to plan B.
