I have spent months in China and many factories who produce legit goods, at night, go "black" and start producing unlicensed goods. However, still, many counterfeits are not produced by licensed factories.

It's all about getting your hands on the counterfeit. You can then gauge the quality for yourself. Some replicas are of high quality and some are of poor quality. If your thinking about getting into any of this. Order a piece of the replica and check it yourself. Just study how it is made and go to the store and compare what you saw to the real thing. Then you can see what works for you.

I personally like the job argument.
I would argue that replicas and counterfeit goods actually create employment in the USA
As strange as that sounds, there's quite a lot of evidence for it.

Every black-market is a market, thus it stirs economy. But it 's illegal

That's a good point. There's a lot of propaganda out there. These days a real or a fake all that means is 1 thing, you either paid the big corporation a lot of wasted money, or you saved money. but either way you "got the same damn thing!" that you're wearing!!!

to add to that..... if you buy real or buy fake, who "really got scammed", the guy who bought real or fake? Seriously you tell me? Because I believe it's the guy who paid that 100,000% mark up, that's who got scammed!

I have a knock off Epiphone LP. It was made in the same Chinese factory that manufactures the same guitar for Gibson. It is made out of the same stock of wood, it uses the same Gibson/Epiphone parts, it is made on the same CNC machines that make the Epiphone LP for Gibson, and used the same blueprints that Gibson provided for their product.

In short, though a knock off, it is the identical product, but at 1/8th the cost. How is it inferior.

On the other hand, I have another guitar that was made in the same factory prior to Gibson and PRS buying out the production capabilities for that factory. In every way it is super to the Gibsons and PRS's. It uses AAA woods, top notch pickups and controls, real mother of pearl inlays (Gibson and PRS use phenolic acrylic), looks like a cross between an LP and a Telecaster, and so on. The guitar cost about $200 with a hard shell case.

It all depends on who and what you deal with. Copyright/trademark/patent after a few years does nothing more than to protect a companies right to scam you for the most dollars for the longest time. After all, guitar technology has not markedly improved since the 1950's.
