As the title say's I could be stating the obvious here. I have spent many hours,days,weeks.... (you get the picture) trying to get my head around SEO and what works and dosent, seperating the fact from the fiction is a big enough challenge alone.......Anyway I'm rambling so I'l get to the point.

I was thinking through how to get some high PR backlinks when I had what I thought must be a way to simple idea. If a SEO company can get ranked in the top two or three on the big G for the search term SEO then they must have some sweet backlinks. So with that in mind I searched with the keyword SEO, then I checked out their backlinks, arranged them in order of PR (I use firefox with the SEOQuake plugin for this) then I went to the page providing the backlink to see how the link was put there, most of the high PR links I found were on blogs or article pages where I could also post a comment using my kewords as the name, I did this on numerous high PR sites all with good relevent comments and then waited, just about all of the comments were approved and I can see them in my backlink report on Yahoo site explorer and some on the big G webmaster tools. My site has moved up the serps and I am reaping the rewards.

I would recommend this as a very good way to get some decent high PR backlinks. I can get 20 or 30 high PR links in about an hour. I have been very pcky on which ones I take and its working great.

If I am stating the obvious dont bully me, I'm very sensative :p

Obvious but very good method.. you'd be surprised how many people think that using spam/automation tools are the end-all-be-all method of ranking their site. You can also (obviously) do this with your competitor's sites :)

    Thanks for the share :)

Luckily my competitors arent to bright and their backlinks are very poor, after only 15 months my website is on page 1 with Google for most of our keywords and phrases. The only mistake I made (I didnt know anything about SEO when the site went up) was I concentrated all the effort on the .co.uk domain, I wish I had focussed on the .com now as it s strong in the UK on Google but not so much outside of the UK. With Bing and Yahoo we are number 1 for just about every keyword and phrase we want, they were really easy!
