It was predicted around 12 years ago.

Quit the drama.

Here are some facts:

If you're older than 80 death rate is 14%. That's why the average death rate is so high.

If you're under 40 death rate is 0.2%

Actually, the death rate has not been established yet. It's estimated to be between 1 and 2%.

Fun fact, the Spanish flu had a death rate of between 2 and 3% and still managed to wipe out 1.7% of the global population, it killed more than WW1.

Either the virus is worse than everyone says or the chinese government is using the quarantine to get rid of "undesirables"

Japan has a lot of cases as well, but it looks like it's going to keep on spreading at this point so it probably won't be where you get it, more likely when.
I am going to Tokyo and as a tourist not for business.. so I am more scared I really wanted to sightseeing the whole country ... :(

I don't know why Trump is so confusing, when he says we have vaccine for coronavirus, other moment officers say he meant ebola.

I believe the number of infected will keep mounting in places with cold weather. Hoping for some pharma company to find a vaccine

lets just hope that this will get resolve sooner and pray for china, all the drop shipper has been affected!

The factory I work with resumed work one week ago.
Some employees are not going back to work due to fear but most of them need money so they did return.

I think a problem will be the fear of the other countries and they will increase the checks on packages received from China. This will further delay the parcels reaching the customers.
The situation in Wuhan doesn't look like getting better and we started working with a few taiwanese factories to cover some of the production.
Price is much higher though...

It's not true. in my country, a nurse has died yesterday. She was 25 years old.

I work with a few factories in Guangzhou. They each have a hand full of people that started work on Monday. We have a few things being made but nothing with any volume.

If your goods have to cross into another Provence to be shipped out they will be delayed. In other words if your factory is in the countryside you’re screwed.

And how many didn't die? How is it not true exactly? He didn't say that the death rate under 40 is zero percent. 0.2% means that from 500 infected 1 dies globally in that age group. Not every 25 year old is 100% healthy. Occupation is irrelevant too.

18 persons died from 63 persons. [in Iran]

It will be fine, not so much ago people were also in panic for the Ebola

More than likely there are a lot more cases than just 63 in Iran. It's already doubled btw, that still sounds way too optimistic for me compared to the amount of dead, but this is what's reported for whatever reason. Politics, how prepared the healthcare system to be able to handle something like this, different level of measurements used to detect cases, monitor people etc. All of these factors vary country by country.

1.2k+ cases in South Korea, 12 dead; 3 cases in Philippines, 1 dead; 91 cases in Singapore, 0 dead. What conclusion can you draw? Nothing. The mortality rate in South Korea is less than 1 percent, in the Philippines it's 33%, in Singapore it's 0%, in Iran it's 13%. For now.

Doing country breakdowns doesn't make too much sense for more than one reason, some of them mentioned above. It's just the beginning for many countries, patients don't die immediately, numbers are coming in continuously (new cases, possible deaths).
The other thing is that the vast majority of cases go unnoticed, because there can be no symptoms at all or just mild ones often. You can calculate a mortality rate for known cases only, which means, no-one knows the actual mortality rate, but it's lower than anything reported. On top of this, if the stats aren't reported correctly or thruthfully, which often happens in countries, which aren't exactly the school example of democracy and/or have shitty healthcare, it leads to even more skewed results. I'd treat those stats - or any stats for that matter - with a grain of salt.

Of course all of us live in a country and we know about that country the most or at least that's what we like to think, but try to broaden your knowledge from the wider data, which is available to us.
