Hey everyone!

Over the last 24 hours I have received word from 3 of my largest suppliers in China (batteries, hats, and plastic bottles)... It's not pretty. Their estimate of returning to work in early March is way off, the quarantine is only getting worse. We've resorted to communicating through encrypted messages sent over a dating app in order to get information out of the country.

Long story short... People are being taken from buildings by what I assume to be government officials. There is talk of a "quarantine train" where these people are loaded onto and brought to somewhere remote in the country, a camp of some sort. Obviously this is probably the rumor-mill working overtime, but I have a feeling the facts may not be too far off.

A large portion of what I sell online is powered by Chinese batteries. My production facility in Taiwan has enough supply of batteries to last about 4 months, but if the situation gets worse, I may have a huge issue on my hands.

Is anyone else experiencing issues or getting communication from the factories?

Thanks for sharing this info, I was expecting that we're not hearing the full story from China and that there was a lot more going on.

I don't deal with China factories but I was in touch with some AE suppliers before CNY and ordered some samples. I was planning to start dropshipping stuff after CNY. Upto 2 weeks or so ago suppliers would respond very quickly but about 1.5 week ago they stopped. I sent multiple messages to different suppliers last week and didnt hear from them for over a week (ie. all of last week). On Monday of this week few responded and I'm not sure if its just a coincidence or there is some sort of government suppression going on.

Just my 2 cents.

This is about a legit of a fear as we can have in the US. CDC just told Americans to prepare for a possible pandemic. Market is cratering for a 2nd day in a row... This is real. Smart money, the big players, they know the truth - and the market will show that truth in the form of swings. This is becoming a scary thing. Yes it's akin to the flu, but we don't know enough about the virus to be thinking it's simple a mild infection... not yet.

Buddy, you should report the authorities about this "quarantine train". They could force infected individuals to reach other countries! This is fucking serious stuff, putting thousands of millions people's lives at risk! Italy and Iran have the highest death toll out of China.

I've had to pause my Shopify store. Dropshipping fulfilment is just taking too long.

Guys Guys Guys.. just wanted to ask should i cancel my Japan trip then? which was in April... i tried to talk to AirBNB places i booked there they didn't respond back yet.

Japan has a lot of cases as well, but it looks like it's going to keep on spreading at this point so it probably won't be where you get it, more likely when.

I am in China at the moment, so here are my two cents:
Nothing works, nobody goes out of their house, restaurants etc. closed. Since this week some public places like parks opened. Some shopping malls also opened, however, need to control the temperature every time you go somewhere.

I don't think the situation will become "normal" any time soon. Earliest will be mid of March, but this really depends on how it goes. Otherwise it could take one more month.

They are in a huge dilemma: They have to run factories, restaurants etc. otherwise their economy gets destroyed, BUT if they open/run these places, the risk of more people get infected is very high. With other words: THEY ARE FUCKED

I wanted to go to Korea and Japan during April as well. It really depends on how it goes in the next 2-3 weeks. I think many tourists will cancel their trip now, which will lead to cheaper hotel/airbnb prices. If they get shit under control you can still go there.

Yes, I living in china, it is hard time for people . just some of workers back to work, everyone has been scared by the new virus , don't want to back to work
