Copyright Issue on my PBN

Recently I bought an expired domain, use as a pbn and repost the articles from waybackmachine as well as the logo.

After several week the previous owner of the site contact me by email and claimed that it is illegal to use the logo, suspect me using the site to scam his customers, and want to sue me for over a million.

I have change the logo and site title. And now is it ok if I just ignore him and continue to use the site as my pbn? I don't want to reply him as it will expose my real identity.

They will always try however, in most cases it is nonsense and you gat ignore it unless they are really holding any trademarks or copyrights!
 
I suppose to google it if it's even a real company, because if it's some crazy person and he didn't even register his brand, he probably can't do anything :)

Try to sell him the domain back for $xx.xxx.
 
There was a thread which was posted from the other side yesterday from an user who lost his domains and saw the content used again.
If you are using html content, it could be the same person, odds are thin that it is the person who is threatening you, but we never know ;)

That would be the funniest thing ever.
 
The domain expired and you purchased the domain. But you still dont have any rights to use the logo or the content of the previous owner.
Remove the content, the logo and If there are no copyright issues anymore, then you can ignore his emails.
And dont think you are safe because of whois protection. Most of the domain providers or hosting companies are willing to publish the registrant data in cases of copyright infringement to prevent legal consequences.
Its not a big deal to purchase some fiver gigs to get unique content and a logo.

Sell him the domain back? Yes, fair enough. Offer to sell him back the content that he created? Dick move!!

To be honest you don't own the content or the site. The only thing that expired was the domain and that is all you purchased when you registered the domain. I think that is what you need to remember in this.

As soon as someone creates original written work it becomes their copyright - that is the bottom line. You can argue about will he put in the effort to take action against me and "Can I just ignore him" etc when the guy lives the other side of the world but if this guy lived a few street away and came round to your house with a very 'persuasive' manner (read baseball bat, 5 mates and an angry pit bull dog) would you still hand him his content back, which is his anyway?
