You know what, I see some really crap looking landing pages - that seem to work a treat
I see some really pro looking pages (and have created some myself) that convert like a trying to float a rock in a puddle of urine

I've bought course from IM pro's that often just want the buyer of the course to either hire them, or buy their expensive "landing page creator" tool or plugin... (ahem Warrior forum ..cough cough).
A couple of years ago I though.. "Feck this, let's just really look at what the real pros do, those that rank, bank, get traffic and convert like ninja... and copy them"
Stupid simple idea, but a lot harder than I thought. I couldn't find a pattern anywhere. I did hotspot analysis on my own pages, looking for where key elements were placed, which colour schemes worked, fonts, themes, popups,

Before you say anything. Yeah, all these elements really do matter. But they aren't the "WIN".

I began to think there was no eureka moment to this. Then I stopped looking for "tech stuff" ands started just looking at page content.
That drew a blank as well. Language varied a lot, some sites had video others not, some used photos, some not.

Finally I looked at the way the message was structured, and only then did a pattern start to emerge.
Looking back at literally hundreds of other successful sites. Sites that ranked landing pages well and stayed selling the same products year in year out. Manufacturers and product suppliers with world class products that were NASDAQ and FTSE listed, and I saw the pattern. It was on almost every site. It was rock solid, it made sense, and it had been there all along.

    In that strict order

There's more to it than that of course. http://www.demondemon.com/2015/01/10/creating-great-landing-pages-in-2015/

    But that's the win

It doesn't really depend on what niche your, i do/did a lot of local marketing and my best salespages (lead pages) had almost no text at all, just a phone-number, some pictures of the business and some testimonials and that is it. i have tested long winded sales pages and explanations of the services i was promoting and i found that people tap out fast when they need something fast, like a plumber or a locksmith guy.

And with local marketing you really really want your buy button (read phone number) above the fold, one good piece of advice is (maybe even the best) is to remove sidebars from your salespage, that was a eye opener for me when i was doing local PPC, use that tip!

Yes. Anything that distracts from the main aim.
Even local however. I get good click through with very simple, however, if I add personality and testimony or those who can bother to scroll down... it gets better.
It's not about ranking - just click through.

    Again the order.

Proposition? "You need a plumber? Call me, I do drains, WC's, boiler fittings, burst pipes"
Value? "24 hour call out" - "Free quote" whatever
Maybe something like "the best deals" but the no specific price above the fold is even more important with plumbers and other local traders. For a start they rarely have a fixed price.
Though if the clients WC is backing up, sump water floating around your bathroom, the client isn't going to give a flying fig about the validity of your testimony, they just want it stopped.

    Thanks for the reply :)

Do you rank solely with these landing pages (the ones with almost no text at all)? Or is it more of a redirect site (the one you're ranking) -->landing page

Any recommendations on where to get graphics for landing pages? The concept of "people eat with their eyes first".

Kind of like the BST threads here. You can have the best service in the world, but if it doesn't look cool first people aren't interested.

    Thanks men! Appreciate it.

A question that just came to my mind: do you know any affiliate product which has a nice landing page? Most of them , especially on clickbanks, look like they were made in 2005..

It's annoying to see that you send people to their page, but since it sucks there is no conversion.

Great question. The simple answer is "no". I tend to rank with more content rich pages, but all those point to the landing page. Also direct traffic from other sources always go straight to the landing page (well there are a few exceptions, but not many)
