Hello everyone,

I am trying to build guest posts for my affiliate site but I am only getting 1% or lower conversion rates, meaning in every 100 outreach emails I only get one to accept, or even sometimes I get nothing.

Is this a normal thing or is there something I am doing wrong such as I am pursuing the wrong prospects?

your help is truly appreciated.

It's pay to play, dude. Always has been. For free links, pitch via HARO.
why is everyone who teaches seo is taking about not paying for a link and that paid links are not worth and could damage your site?

Assuming there are no deliverability issues with your email address, then for email outreach for links, only 3 things matter: content, targets and pitch.

Example Issues:
Problem: Targets not opening emails.
Change: Test a new subject line.

Problem: Targets not clicking links.
Change: Test a new message.

Problem: Targets not responding at all.
Change: Target sites.
OR
Change: Test pitching a new piece of content.

etc.

I talked about this here.

How are you reaching out to your guest post's prospects?

Are you reaching out to blogs that are in your niche? Are you personalizing each email?

Also, are you giving them a freebie like some sort of sample of your content?

There's just so many open questions regarding your situation.

But you might wanna consider the questions I asked to increase your outreach effectiveness.

Getting a 1% response for 100 outreach emails sent is on the low side if you know what you're doing.

But if you're just blasting out outreach emails to a site that says that they will take guest posts, the 1% response rate sounds about right.

The more targeted your campaign is and the more time you put into it, the higher the chance that you will get the results that you're looking for.

Also, if I may add something, don't just target sites that accept guest posts.

They have to be in your niche, and second, they have to be well established <rephrase> in terms of their SEO qualities for them to be worth your time.

Think in terms of return on effort, so you can make more money and get better results in affiliate marketing.

Otherwise, it's just gonna be a rough road ahead for you.

This is extremely valuable advice - when it comes to targeting sites that don't bluntly accept guest posts though (don't have "write for us" or "guest post" pages or tags etc...), what is the best operator/keyword to find them? For example when you run scrapebox to find regular guest post websites, you simply put your keyword + "guest post" or "write for us", as exemplified above, so when you want websites without these do you simply remove those footprints or actually add them as negative ones? Eg.: "niche keyword" + -"guest post" -"write for us". Hope this didn't sound too complicated, just curious. Thanks in advance for the input.

If you can select the propect properly then you can increase your conversion rate.
And if you know the tactics then you can get links from quality sites for free.

It's super difficult, I'm getting like 4-5% reply rate and have been doing this for years.

Other mentioned HARO, it's good but everyone's competing there. Your best bet is to design link bait articles that are very high quality with quotes from well known people and nice graphics. It'll increase your chances of getting a link and then you slowly build up a list of websites that often link to you.
