content spinning is BS? Matt Cutts says so

Big G is scared of spins, as it is very hard algorithmically to detect them. They don't want the same thing appearing 100 times in the same SERP.

As others said, if you do a quality spin, wonderful. If not, you won't survive a manual review, and then I guess you are ready for that contingency.

This has got to be one of the funniest threads I've read. LMAO!!

Bottom line is no one will know if you do a quality spin.

I have spinned content for long enough for affiliate promotion, almost always got good ranks! If you do quality spinning you will never have problem! My 2 cents

Lol at the people so scared to listen to matt cutts.

Dupe content is a myth, just dont go reproducing the article 100 times across the net in one goo al pointing to your page and don't dupe content your own site too much and you will be fine.

If you don't want to listen to matt cutts and be a "sheep" then don't but atleast do the test by creating a blog full of dupe content from one of your sites.

The real issue is are we scared to be black hat, or will we whitehat wimp out and sheepishly follow gurus like Cutts? Yes, it's quite likely Cutts and many other SEO gods where planted by G in the IM field right at the beginnig, to confer an air of outside legitimacy to its self-serving business model. Is being a white hat sheep supposed to be innately better than going black hat, which actually takes risks?

So what if Google is setting up filters to more sensitively detect dupe content (maybe by only christening an article as unique if it's 90% different)? When ISN'T G revising its algo to stop small IMers from making money? Just dupe away and take your chances.

If you dupe away and take chances, then I would suggest to use something like RSS2Blog, write a php script (or have someone write it 4 you) that takes 5 snippets of related content, put them one after another, number them, and at the bottom of the whole thing, put in a references section, with all the url's where they came from (nofollow them).

This would at least give a chance to G* not to call you a duper :)

Yeh duplicate content on your own domain is a waste of time, however posting duplicate content on several web 2.0 sites (wordpress.com blogger.com squidoo) and linking back to your site works really well.
