I keep seeing people say things like “my article ranks good and it’s only a few months old”.
so, from people with experience in this, does content age actually matter? People act like articles can take 8 months to a year to see their full potential with rankings. I’m curious how true that actually is.

If your site is new then it takes few months to start ranking. If you got already good aged site with domain authority then your pages rank fast.

In the since of what I am talking about though, some guys, like income school and the like, will claim that even with older websites, content will rank and index a lot faster, but each new piece of content takes months to slowly reach its maximum position in rankings.

I see several people saying it’s true and several saying it’s not. People saying stuff like “my article ranks number 10 and it’s only 4 months old. I expect it to rise overtime”. Stuff like that. Just questioning how true that actually is or if it’s some made up concept to make people feel better about articles not ranking top 3 lol.

In my experience yes, maybe not 9 months but a few definitely. There are many other factors though like competition (sometimes articles with no competition rank as soon as they are indexed, for more competitive keywords it takes about 2-3 months) and the authority of the website.

Someone just posted a thread a couple of days ago, saying they wrote a 3k article, and it ranked position 3 in 7 or so days, but yes, they had an already established site.

In my opinion, the content age doesn't matter. But the age of the site and the quality of the content and backlinks matter.

Hello

No, it does not a big deal.. high-quality content will be rank fastly.. but domain age is more important than content age.. this is the way to get ascertain a level of potential quality for a quick result.

Google Update hit trends about quality contents on ranking algorithm, not its age.
You can update your site contents, let Google to crawl your site more frequently without needing to publish more often.
More the Google crawl the site, the more likely your most recent information will show up in search results after publishing, which tend you an advantage in your search engine results rankings.

This. Sometimes you'll see age of content associated with ranking effectiveness due to one simple fact: it has had more time to earn backlinks, that's it.
