Hey guys! I'm going to use this thread to document my reddit process. Reddit is an amazing and profitable traffic source for my business, but as we all know it's become super strict these days. My main reddit account was banned earlier this year, leaving me with a huge traffic problem that I need to fix.
Initial Attempts
I started by trying to appeal my ban without much luck. While waiting with fingers crossed on that, I spun up a series of new accounts, all running on anti-detect browsers with mobile proxies. Within a few days, all of the accounts I started were banned already (red bar that we're all familiar with lol). This was super frustrating because I was being very careful, but I think I just left too many comments with each account in too short of a time span.
With no luck on appealing my ban, I was basically ready to give up entirely, but after waiting a few more weeks, I decided to give it another go.
Round 2 - Aged Accounts
I realized I have 3 or 4 aged personal accounts that could be rebranded and used. I logged into a couple of them and left some comments to check the account health and, fortunately, they all seemed working properly.
I started building out these accounts VERY carefully. I spent a couple weeks just scrolling more regularly and leaving the occasional comment. I have a few karma farming methods that work very well, so I started rolling those out after I saw the account was still healthy after a while.
I find what works best for karma farming is to avoid all the generic things in big subs and instead pick niches that you already know about and cater to smaller communities. This way it's easier to establish yourself as an "insider" and makes you look more real and legit. It sometimes takes longer (ie less karma per post) but it's safer and more effective long term.
Once I had farmed enough karma to post in relevant communities for my niche, I started to do that and saw good results. I'm also starting my own subreddits now. So far I have 4 subreddits, all niched specifically to what I'm trying to sell. This is something I never did before and I'm surprised about how fast the subs are growing. I'm basically just doing the crossposting method for growing them. I know my niche super well, so I'm able to create posts that are very appealing. Remember: reddit is all about quality. Focus on posting quality content and you'll be rewarded.
Farming New Accounts
I also do want to crack the system for building new accounts, so I decided to give that another shot and be super careful this time. Here are the exact steps I used:
1. Mobile proxies with separate anti-detect profile for each account.
2. Start by warming up the browser instance, visit popular sites, accept cookies on everything so you can look like a normal user. I usually spend quite a bit of time on this, just to make sure everything looks very legit.
3. Start visiting reddit off of google queries (lots of reddit traffic is coming via google search still for people trying to find human discussion), just visit and scroll the page. Do this a few times. I'm extra cautious and even spend up to a couple days reading posts without registering.
4. Try to upvote or make a comment on one of the threads you visit from google search. This will prompt you to sign up. Create an account using an email that looks normal (gmail, yahoo, outlook, etc.) No throwaway accounts. Think about what a normal person would use.
5. JUST SCROLL AND READ for several days. I think this is what got me in trouble on previous attempts. I always want to get rolling fast, but the new era of black hat reddit rewards patience. This is kind of like cooking, a lot of the time is spent just waiting. Letting accounts age seems like it might be the 80/20 of reddit.
Next Steps
So, that's where I'm at right now. I have one fresh account that looks promising. I haven't started karma farming yet. I'm probably going to wait at least another week before I try to make karma focused posts. New accounts seem extremely fragile, so I'm probably going to focus more on letting accounts age VS growing them.
Thanks for reading guys, I hope this is helpful or interesting. I'll keep the thread updated and try to respond to questions. This will help keep me on-track and accountable.
