Hi!
This is my first post in blackhatworld forum so pardon me if I break any posting rules (though I did read the guide somewhat) :)

I run a wordpress based blog and have SEO Search Terms Tagging plugin. My blog receives around 600,000 pageviews per month.

I have been using this plugin for over a year now. During this time I have put in a lot of efforts into the blog, written good amount of articles and the traffic has grown. Now the problem is I have been reading a lot of "precautions" for STT plugin and I am a too scared to remove this plugin. What if I loose all the traffic?

Can anyone help me out? How do I determine if STT does play a role in bringing traffic?

I personal don't worry about it. I do believe it helps but no where near your good quality content, besides I think if you have had it for a year now without penalty you most likely never going to receive one.

I personally change the H4 tag and choose to display 10 items each But failing that disallow all robots from your wp-includes/plugins folder and you should be golden if you are worried.

Easiest way to determine is to switch the plugin off. simples!.

I dont use it anywhere "On the page" of my blog. STT just sits in the background, creates all those search result pages and gets traffic.

Another reason why I am worried is that google webmaster tools shows a lot of 404 pages for urls containing "/search/" which I believe are being generated by this plugin.

Is there a way to avoid these 404 pages?

And Its good to see active members on this forum :) I am glad I joined it for SEO guidance :))

Interesting thread, would love to hear some more experienced discussion on this!

I am also using this plugin, though my sites are new and nowhere near as popular as the OP.

I am hoping it helps with the SEO of my arcade Flash games on my two arcade sites, though they are only a week old so too new to tell, even with a couple hundred visitors each already.

My other site discussing WordPress and themes and the like, it seems to be putting together a pretty good list of relevant searches in each post, so I'm happy.

I haven't changed the H4 tag or done anything with no follow or the like.
