Hi guys, have a question for the SEO-lords, lol.

I'm working on a project which is a platform for local business promotion. In other words, it is a place where some local business owners can register their company and share to visitors with their recent offers and events. I have no product, or service to promote directly, so I can't understand what to do.

So, the question is how can I perform competitors' research in such a niche? Who will be my comp? How to find them? Which principle should I use in such kind of investigation?

I see two ways for now. To search sites ranking on my landing page's KW, but it's too narrow (SEO-agencies sites mostly). Or I can take all sites in this niche (company or service databases mostly).

What do you think of it? Would be appreciated for any advice

Try to use your main keys in the search results in the region where you are, then you will see who your competitors are and only then you can begin to do more in-depth analysis through Ahrefs, Semrush

You'll need to rank for the same kw's as the business owners themselves. So in this case, far as SERPs go, the business owners are your competitors.

To find the competitors you can use spyfu or best way i would suggest is to type the keywords and search who are ranking for the same. Note down the sites and do their research in ahref.

Whoever registering their company with their website. All of them are your competitors.

Thx for replying, guys. I have come to the same conclusion.

You can search with the keyword and find the competitors who rank top.
