I'm working on a link-building campaign of a website in competitive niche. What are the most creative ways to get high-quality back-links without resorting to buying links or guest-posting on irrelevant websites?

Creating valuable, link-worthy content such as original research, comprehensive guides, and interactive tools. Engage in community participation on relevant forums and Q&A platforms, leverage broken link building, and collaborate with influencers through expert roundups and interviews. Sponsor industry events, and offer to be an expert source for journalists to gain backlinks from authoritative sites.
 
You can try manual outreach but everything comes with a price tag. There are a few niches like education, religion, community service, NGOs, etc. where people give away backlinks to support each other. But in most cases, you need to pay a hefty amount to get high quality backlinks.
 
Provided you have some budget, I would recommend you try journalist outreach platforms such as Featured, Connectively, Qwoted, etc.

They provide the opportunity to land links from authoritative high-traffic domains, while, of course, remaining completely white hat.

Yeah, I have been doing all these activities, but I'm not seeing much results.
 
Well, you can use HARO links if your expertise in the niche can be of use for the media. You can also try finding contacts of some beginner authors in your niche (but who are writing for major brands), and offer them to put links on your study

It's basically facilitating the process of good-quality content virality, but it still needs good-quality content to be feasible
 
One way is to get yourself backlinks from forums.
Second is through community or social sites that are in your niche.
I am not sure but approaching for guest posts might be helpful.

You respond to journalist requests on topics related to your niche, say you have a website about dentists/teeth/oral care and you've got a dentist as your contributor/author, you can answer queries from journalists on such subject matters. Journalist might ask for a quote on the best way to mitigate a tooth pain when you're not close to a dentist/healthcare facility/pharmacy. Your dentist would then quote something like "close oil is great to prevent further toothache, albeit only temporarily"

The idea is that it would be quoted in the article along the lines of Dr Dent Ist, of Randyseoppc Dental Care, said that "clove oil is great to prevent further toothache(s), albeit only temporarily"

The same idea happens in forums, but you need to have aged accounts, need to know the forums, so that they don't delete your links and so forth. I recommend @el_cucuy

Yes, even manual try you can need to pay for the agents or resources.

Especially, high quality backlink pages mostly has both traffic and decent metrics altogether which is available on affordable cost also.
 
Yes, you need to pay for big high authority website backlinks.

Also, you can manually find backlink resources and create backlinks. make sure if the backlink is not indexed in Google then it's worthless, so check and push the backlinks for indexing.

No way, it's impossible, Google has been always saying: create fantastic content, so users will be unable to stop linking to you, that the only way you should gain inbound links :D :D

I would first recommend do an in-depth analysis of your competitors' backlinks. What you need to do is identify the pattern of the links and mention if those links are from guest posts, press-release, blogging, or any other activity. It will make a clear path for you that what kind of backlinks you would need to beat those competitors.

Here are a few ways you might already heard about (just sorting for convenience)
1. Natural - backlinks gained with shareworthy content present on website
2. Outreach to website/blog owners, journalists - for broken backlinks, for guest posts, for getting featured listings/reviews, news etc.
3. Paid Links - through guest pots, affiliation, sponsorships, press releases etc.
4. Create unpaid links your own - create various mail ids and do links submissions like classifieds, business listings, media sharing,
5. Use automatic link building tools.
6. Use social media.

All of these link building building methods need efforts and all can be utilized for any website, if you want you can do that yourself or if you want you can buy from others as these are widely available.
