Hello IMers,

My first post here - I've been inhaling all that this forum has to offer for a few days now. I'm here with one goal in mind, and that is to figure out traffic generation.

I am a data integration expert working in software development - long term I'm interested in marketing automation though right now, I am 100% committed to learning one thing at a time. The first thing I'm interested in, is traffic generation.

I want to test, observe results, retest really quickly to learn about traffic generation, and from what I have seen on these forums so far, without a massive adspend budget the best way to do that is probably through social media. Pinterest is peaking my interest, so I am thinking about starting there, with the site being an amazon affiliate site. I dont expect this to be a success, though I am really eager to learn as much as I can in the process.

Thanks for reading!

WELCOME :D

I didn't know Pinterest was from Amazon. That explains a little. Traffic generation is hard. But from my own experience it requires blogging everyday. It's not just about writing good content, you need to also do it regularly. My analytics traffic goes up everyday when I write everyday... but if I submit only 2 articles a week, even if they're better articles than my usual, they don't get the traffic of regular blogging.

Good Luck and welcome here. Hoping your first site is a great success. At least you are methodical I am kind of all over the place. Have become more focused though lol. all the best.

Oops - I meant my WP site will be Amazon Affiliate. I intend to spin articles on this experiment to be honest. Writing posts isn't something that I've ruled out though I want to maximise volume and since I'm not planning on getting any SEO juice right for my first project I'm quite happy to risk the google ban hammer.

I have that tendency too, though I've found in my dayjob at least that learning to focus has added a lot of value, so the same must be true here right?... right? lol

Just 1 advice. Watch out! You can easily have built up a base and suddenly receive some kind of unexpected strikeback from a network and lose all your progress. Study things well. Be natural. etc. etc.

Best to spread your bets on pinterest?

Could someone offer me some advice on what would be an ambitious yet realistic target for traffic generation from Pinterest or facebook in say 1 month? I'm thinking of heading down the home living niche. Because, why not?! Not focussing on revenue at this point - purely an exercise in traffic generation.

Welcome. I'm sure there's lots of traffic generation tips here.
