Hello everyone.

I have a slight problem with a bot that I do not understand. This bot is from Github, is written in python and as far as I know it using Google Chrome to making activities. I'm running currently 5 accounts (mine and my friends) on my old laptop. 3 of this accounts are fine but the other 2 have some problem with comments. Some of posted comments are hidden for everyone else except account that posted it. If I visit post without log in I can't see this comment, if I log in using other account than author of the comment I can't see this comment but if I log in as author of the comment I can see it.

Is this some kind of ban or visibility filter on comments?

Your comments are shadow banned yes. They have been flagged as non genuine

Is this something wrong with account itself or maybe comments content? Not all of them are hidden but most.

Well no one knows for sure what triggers a shadow ban, but here some factors that may raise some warning flags :
- if your account is not aged
- if you're posting links or obvious spam in your comments
- if you're posting the same comments many times
- if the bot you're using isn't posting like a human (= the bot is easily detected)

As Rootsheep mentioned, the comments aren't visible publicly if they are reported as spam in the eyes of the Instagram's algorithm.

One of the major reasons for getting shadow mentions is posting links in between them or posted them too often with newly created accounts. To avoid this from happening, you gotta act as humanly as possible while making them so it's always suggested to use a spintax when posting them in bulk. Use only aged accounts which have been warmed up properly.

But now that, you're already shadow banned, I would suggest you to wait for a few days, avoid any comment activity during this time and see if it's better in a week as temporary shadow bans last for a few days or max a week. If not, then it's better to simply move to a different account.

I've had the same issue with my accounts lately because I was commenting too much (I guess).
However I am quite amazed how this problem is so unknown, I think this post is the only one mentioning it... I would like to hear how you solved it if you manage to solve it !

Anyway, I'm going to let my accounts rest for a few days and try again with a low comment ratio (max 10 per hour), I hope that it's not too late and they're not definitely banned...

Other strange thing I noticed is that after some hours I was able to post 2/3 comments that weren't hidden but then got immediately "comment shadowbanned" again. I really hope a wait of a few days is going to solve this
Last thing, it doesn't seem to have any link with the common IG shadowban because I can still post photos with hashtags that can be searched by other accounts.

IG checks comments and account quality. Might be the reason of hidden comments.

Ok, I think I found where that comes from, just google 'Keeping Instagram as a Safe Place for Self Expression' and you'll see the feature that Instagram announced earlier in 2017.
However, I still don't know if there is a solution to it, I guess the only thing we can do now is try harder to make our accounts look more humans...
